ELFEED KRS 47
The ELFEED KRS 47 tenter infeed assu-
res that the web is reliably taken up at the
tenter infeed by the clips or pins of the
transport chain. The KRS 47 version with
digital guiding is designed for relatively
slow-moving tenters and dryers with web
speeds of up to 50 m/min.
The movement is transferred to the infeed
rails by a trapezoidal screw. By selecting
an appropriate pitch, adjustment to the
tenter requirements is easy. High adjust-
ment speeds produce low adjustment
forces and vice-versa. The main share of
the force is not required for spreading the
textile web but for moving the mass of
the infeed rails.
Movement transfer by screw also permits
actuators to be mounted outside the
tenter infeed rails. In this way, these may
be installed in a protected environment
outside extremely corrosive zones, e.g. in
mercerising machines.
Two digital sensors detect the left and
right web edges independently of one
another and transmit their signals directly
to the digital guider. There, the adjust-
ment speed of the rails may be set indivi-
dually by push buttons via a setup pro-
gram. All current operating parameters,
through to error messages, may be re-
trieved on the display of the digital guider
at any time.
The left and right system operate inde-
pendently of one another.
Stenter guiders
Design
The ELFEED KRS 47 infeed system
mainly consists of:

Motor-driven edge uncurlers with 2, 3 or
4 scroll roller or, alternatively, mechanical
spreaders are predominantly used to un-
curl the web edges.
Edge sensor FR 55 with infra-red scan-
ning, combines contact-free and mecha-
nical scanning in one unit. Due to its digi-
tal resolution capability it is also suitable
for patterned or strongly contrasted
webs, very transparent and poorely re-
flective materials with a reflection degree
of at least 2%.
The controller transfers the sensor signals
to the DC actuators for positioning the in-
feed rails. Due to the self-arresting feature
on the screw, each target position is
maintained.
The controller also contains the necessary
interfaces for connecting peripheral units.
A built-in mechanically/electronically
operated safety logic monitors the end
positions of the rail heads and reliably
prevents damage to the rail joints caused
when the permissible kinking angle is
exceeded.
