How to Connect to the Guest Network


1)

To connect your laptop to the Baptist Guest network, you will first need to power on your laptop

and login to Windows

(if required).



2)

Next, you will need to locate your laptop’s wireless network connections and which
network it is
currently trying to connect to
.

This can be done in one of
several

ways:


a.

Laptops Using Windows 7


In

the bottom right
-
hand
corner
of some laptops
,

you will see an icon that looks like
several vertical bars that get taller and taller.

Not
Connected:



Connected:





Clicking on it should show you a list of available wireless networks for you laptop.






Click on the network titled “Baptist Guest”
, and click on the Connect button.





If

you cannot find the above icon, you can also access the
wireless networks list
by going
to your Start Menu and selecting Control Panel.



In the new window that opens, select “Connect to the Internet” (under the Network and
Intern
et area).





In the
new window, select Wireless.



It will then pull up the
list of available networks,

displayed

Laptops Using Windows XP


In the bottom right
-
hand of some laptops you will see an icon that looks like a computer
monitor with a red X next to it (Note: if the laptop is connected to a network already, this
icon will have green lines next to it).

Clicking on
the icon

should show you a list of available wireless networks for you laptop.



Click on the network titled “Baptist Guest”
, and the

click the Connect button.





If you cannot find the above icon, you can also access the
wireless networks list

by going
to your Start Menu
, going to your Settings folder,

and selecting
Network Connections
.





In the new window that opens, select

the Wireless Network Connection icon
.



It will then pull up the same
“Choose a wireless network” screen

as
is

displayed
at the
beginning of section b
. Follow

the above

steps to connect your laptop to the network.

Once your laptop is connected to our Guest network, open up

your Internet browser and a Terms
and A
greement
web
page should
load

automatically.

Click on the “I accept these terms” button to
begin browsing the Internet.

If the agreement page does not open, your Internet browser’s security settings may be set to h
igh.
Depending on which

version of Windows you are using, follow the below directions to help
lower your security settings.


Before begin, close any Internet browser win
dows that you may have open (e.g
. Internet
Explorer, Firefox/Mozilla, Google Chrome, et
c.).

Laptops Using Windows 7

From the Start Menu, click on Control Panel.





In the new window that opens, select Network and Internet.





In the ne
xt screen
, select Internet Options.











A new window will open with your Internet Options.
Select the Security tab.



Drag the slider to the very bottom option. If the slider is not showing, see the below step.

If you have a Custom level set,

you will

need to

the Custom level button.

In the new window, change the “Reset to:” field to
Medium. Then press the OK button.



Next,

in the Internet Options window, select the Privacy tab. Drag the slider for the
Settings to the very bottom option. Click the

apply button.






b.

Laptops Using
Windows XP

From the Sta
rt Menu, open the Settings folder

and click on Control Panel.



In the new window that opens, select Internet Options.




A new window will open with your Internet Options. Select the
Security tab.


Lower the security level to the lowest setting, and then click the Apply button.





Press the OK button to close the

Internet Properties

window, and then open your Internet
browser

(e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox/Mozilla, Google Chrome, etc.)
. You should
automatically be redirected to the Baptist Terms and Agreement webpage.
