The following checklist is desig
ned for ENERGY MANAGEMENT CORP.(EMC) to assist
you during the installation of the generator(s) and associated equipment.
All categories
MUST

be completed prior to calling EMC for the start
-
up inspection.

Please check
over the list carefully, sign it, and

return it to our office. EMC’s service department will
contact you, once they receive the completed checklist, to schedule a start
-
up date. A
technician will perform a start
-
up inspection in accordance with the manufacturers
recommendations. If the EMC

technician arrives on site and determines that this checklist
was not followed, you will be charged for all necessary return trips ($400.00 minimum
charge) or the time it takes to perform the corrections while the technician is on site ($75.00
per hour, 2

hour minimum).

Receipt of Goods:

Most equipment is shipped from the manufacturer directly to the contractor. In those cases
the manufacturer is the “shipper” and the receiving party is the “consignee.” If there are
shortages or shipping damage, onl
y the shipper and consignee are parties to the transaction.
The consignee must file a claim with the “shipping agent” (i.e. trucking company, UPS)
within 7 days. By law, thee consignee has only 7 days. ENERGY MANAGEMENT CORP
cannot take any action, beca
use we are not directly involved in the transaction. Therefore,
PLEASE INSPECT ALL INCOMING ITEMS CAREFULLY! If you sign for an item and
then cannot locate it, you will be charged for its replacement.

Accessibility:

How close can the technicia
n park to the generator?

[ ] Roof

[ ] Ground

[ ] Penthouse

[ ] Parking Garage

Fuel System Installation:

[ ] Diesel Fuel

[ ] Gasoline

[ ] Natural Gas

[ ] LP Gas

[ ] Main fuel tank filled

[ ] Day tank filled

[
] Day tank pump & motor

[ ] All fuel lines plumbed and connected

electrically functional

[ ]
Flexible fuel line(s) connected at engine

[ ] GAS SYSTEMS ONLY:

Primary regulator adjusted to proper pressure 11

14 inches of wate
r column

It is the installer’s responsibility to properly size the piping and regulators. If there are any
questions please call ENERGY MANAGEMENT CORP for assistance
.

Electrical System Installation:

[ ] Load wires pulled and properly terminated

[ ] Start and remote annunciator wires pulled in a separate conduit from the

AC wires (do not terminate, the start
-
up technician will terminate)

[ ] 120vac circuit pulled for the battery charger/engine block heater

[ ] 240vac circui
t pulled for the engine block heater (if applicable)

[ ] Two pairs of “shielded” cable pulled to the remote annunciator from the

generator control panel (digital panels only)

[ ] A ground wire must be connected to a ground rod driven int
o the earth.

Most generator installations have AC load wires, AC power wires, and DC automatic
start/stop wires. AC and DC wires are not compatible and should never be placed in the
same conduit. This means that load wires and control wires CANNOT EV
ER be run in the
same conduit. Always follow local codes and regulations when determining wire and
conduit sizes. Failure to separate the AC and DC circuits will void the manufacturers
warranty.

Placement & Ventilation:

[ ] Radiator and/
or air flow ducting in place and properly connected

[ ] All fans and/or louvers in the air ducting system in place and functional

[ ] Adequate space between the generator and surroundings (4 feet minimum)

[ ] Generator in place and secured to t
he pad/floor as specified

[ ] Accessory items in place and wired/plumbed as required

[ ] Vibration isolators installed between the generator skid and the pad/floor

All generators depend upon an adequate supply of cool air to keep from overheating
. If the
unit is installed in such a manner that it cannot draw fresh air across itself and through the
radiator, it will overheat. Indoor installations can be especially difficult, although outdoor
installations where the generator is placed near a wall

or in an enclosed area can pose similar
problems. The location of service points and wear items vary from model to model.
Therefore it is important that enough room be left completely around the unit to allow for
proper ventilation and also to allow a s
ervice technician access to perform maintenance. If
the unit is housed, take into account that all doors must be able to be opened and/or
removed. If vibration isolators are supplied, they are to be installed between the generator
skid base and the pad/f
loor.

Exhaust System Installation:

[ ] Flexible exhaust connector installed between the engine exhaust manifold

and the muffler without bends or kinks

[ ] Muffler and exhaust piping installed and properly supported

[ ] Wall thimbles i
n place where the exhaust piping extends through a wall or

overhang

[ ] Rain cap or other suitable device in place to keep moisture out of the

exhaust system

[ ] Exhaust piping free of unnecessary bends

Mufflers and exhaust pipin
g carry hot gases that are potentially
fatal

when not vented to the
atmosphere. Exhaust piping gets extremely hot, so it should NOT be ran anywhere near
ceiling mounted heat detectors, sprinkler heads, or anything else that is heat sensitive. All
exhaust

piping must be out of the way of personnel areas and free of any gaps or leaks. Also
the exhaust cannot be terminated near an air vent or window where exhaust fumes may be
drawn back into a building.
