ABOUT THE INSTITUTE AND WARANGAL

National Institute of Technology (formerly known as
Regional Engineering College), Warangal is the first among
RECs setup as joint venture of the Government of India and
Government of Andhra Pradesh. Over the years the institute
has established itself as a premier institution imparting
technical education of a very high standard leading to the
B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D. Degrees in various
specializations. With an aim to give further impetus to the
technological education, the Govt. of India has upgraded all
the RECs into NITs. Now NIT Warangal is working under
the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of
India.

Warangal is known for its rich historical and cultural
heritage. It is situated at a distance of 140 Km. from
Hyderabad. NIT campus is 3 km. away from Kazipet railway
station and 15 km away from the Warangal railway station.
The average temperature is about 30-35
0C during day and
about 25
0C during night.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Electrical Engineering is one of the
oldest among the departments of the institute. Since its
inception in 1959, the department has been actively engaged
in teaching and research in diverse fields of Electrical
Engineering with well qualified and experienced faculty. The
Department offers an UG program in Electrical &
Electronics Engineering, two PG programs in the
specializations of Power Systems Engineering and Power
Electronics & Drives and also offers Ph.D. programs in all
the areas of electrical engineering. All along, the department
has been at the modernization of the curriculum for both UG
and PG courses to meet industry needs. Currently the
department is executing several consultancy and R&D
projects.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

The main object of this workshop is to provide concepts of
digital control techniques, design and implementation of
digital PWM techniques and system integration. For digital
control of PWM power converter, processing speed of the
controller is of vital importance, comparable performance to
analog controlled converter can only be obtained with new
high speed processors. The compensation network
affects the stability and the frequency response of the
power converter. With digital control, the design is
highly flexible and is less dependent on the accuracy of
active and passive components used in analog design.
Digital control permits one to realize sophisticated
control laws which are difficult and sometimes
impossible to realize using analog controller.

This two day workshop will provide hands-on
experience using modern model based development
tools. VisSim will be used to model and simulate
dynamic systems of controller and plant, as well as
analyze and visualize data, and also generate efficient
embedded target programs. The sessions are designed
for both new and advanced users of VisSim. During
workshop TI kit with a 32 bit processor, ADC, PWM,
UART, I2C, GPIO etc, plus USB linkage will be
provided for demonstration and also for hands-on
experience. Best practices and techniques for model
construction, simulation, code generation, and
embedded development will be discussed during
workshop.

 MCU-in-loop code generation.
 MCU based debug, JTAG driver set.
