system, but unreliable and available only hours a day


Residential, commercial, industrial customers use diesel generators for reliable
power


Diesels run almost 24/7


Most of the time at partial load, so very inefficient


Distributed energy key to increased efficiency and cost effectiveness of diesel
generation


Smart Grid:


Energy storage system can detect the gird, when available and use it


When the grid is not available, will run on batteries until depleted and then
dispatch the diesel generator to serve load and recharge the batteries
