GUIDELINES FOR
TECHNICAL PAPERS AND PRESENTATIONS

at
ISA
SAS
AUTOMATION CONFERENCE 2013




English is the official language of all papers and presentatio
ns in ISA technical conferences
.



Content should be original and not of a libelous and defaming nature to

any person or company.



Content cannot be commercial in nature and cannot represent a sales pitch for a product, service,
or company. Please remember that your colleagues are interested in your technical
-
based
solutions to industrial problems. Identificati
on of an author's affiliation in the title and one
mention of a trade name or trademark in the body of the paper or presentation typically are
acceptable.



Only abstracts (not full papers) are required at this stage.

Abstracts shall follow the following
Guidelines:

1.

Abstracts
shall be written using
English language.

2.

A
bstract
title
is limited to

words.

3.

The
abstract
must be concise and have less than

words,
and two paragraphs
maximum.

4.

The abstract should include the first author's and all co
-
authors’ names
, contact details
and organizations.

5.

Most applicable
conference
track
or topic category
shall be mentioned.




After a potential presenter inserts his/her abstract and

appear informing
the submitter t
hat the abstract has been registered successfully. The abstract
submitter will receive an e
-
mail confirming the successful s
ubmission of the abstract. This
confirmation of abstract receipt is NOT a notice of acceptance of your abstract.



Once the abstract is submitted, changes, corrections or rewording are possible until the
abstract
deadline on
15

2013
. After this date, changes are not possible. Careful typing and
proofreading are essential, as the abstract will be published as submitted.



Submitting an abstract for presentation does

constitute registration for the conference.

The Technical committee reserves the right to reject abstracts that are not found to be relevant
or
of high value to
the conference
.



You will be notified by email when your abstract is accepted. A full presentation and a technical
paper will then be requir
ed by the published dates.



Whenever possible, please use ISA Standards and ISA's Automation Dictionary for consistency
with other ISA publications.



Please limit your paper to twelve pages

for 30 minute presentation time slots (36 pages for 90
minute sessio
n tutorials)
, including figures and tables, so that your peers will have time to read it.



Please provide a brief
(25
-
50 words)
biography for use by your session chair to introduce you.



A typical presentation is 20 minutes, followed by about 10 minutes for
questions. Tutorial

presentations typically are about 70 minutes with 20 minutes for question periods at appropriate
points in your tutorial. Please be sensitive to the time and help your session stay on schedule.



Please remember to be prepared, understa
nd your audience, and customize your presentation to
their interests. Tell them what you will be speaking about, then speak about it, and then
summarize.



Pay attention to your audience and their reactions to see if they are following along or need to
have
something reiterated or clarified.
