PURPOSE of the COURSE
This course serves to train students in understanding
scientific presentations and publications
while simultaneously giving them a rudimentary capability to craft a colloquium style
presentation based on a journal article.
Students are expected to attend class and to make a presentation on a j
paper as chosen by them. Ideally the paper s
hould be related to the student’s
and the student is free to present on ongoing research. Alternatively student's can present on a
paper of the professor's choosing. Students will present
in teams of 2 where each team will have
45 minutes to present including time for questions. It is expected that student's will allow 15
minutes for questions and that the question and answer portio
n of the talk will be thorough.
e expected to submit 2 in
10 pages, on external speaker
presentations. One of these will be due at midterm and one will be due at the end of the class..
Finally students are expected to evaluation each of the student presentations on a 1
