Palm plans to close its retail stores in the effort to focus on fewer programs and to better compete
in the crowded personal digital assistant marketplace.

Palm will c
lose its 8 branded stores and all
26 stores located in airports across the country.

Palm said the store closing come as the
company continues to focus on core business functions, consolidating resources behind fewer
programs.

Additionally it cancelled its
smart phone companion the Foleo which was scheduled for
release in mid

2007.

Pal is building a new Linux based system phone that should be released

later in 2008

PayPal buys Fraud Science, 01

PayPal, the online payments arm of San Jose

based eBay,

said on Monday that it will acquire
Israel's Fraud Sciences Ltd., a developer of online risk tools, for about $169 million in cash.

PayPal said that the company's technology will help bolster its fraud management system and
accelerate the development of
new fraud detection tools. This acquisition is expected to close
within the next 30 days.

has acquired Walnut Creek

based Covalent Technologies, a
provider of support and services for open source projects. Covalent has more than 400 clients,
including SBC, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, British Telecom, NASA, Intel and Bear Stearns.
SpringSource s
aid that the acquisition will allow it to offer products and services that allow clients
to develop, test and deploy applications using the Spring Portfolio and Apache Software
Foundation (ASF) projects. Covalent CEO Mark Brewer will become the vice presid
ent and
general manager of Spring Source’s new Covalent business unit.

Financial terms of the deal were

ayer and Internet radio station San Francisco’s Anywhere.FM. The company says it
bought the company for its music uploading capabilities, music player interface, and
recommendation features. The Anywhere.FM application allows users to upload MP3 files from

their library to the Web and then stream them from any browser, similar to a digital locker. Friends
can also stream the music. Imeem says the technology and functionality will be integrated into its
social networking service.

S G Brown
Limited and its wholly owned subsidiary, TSS (International) Limited. The deal was worth
approximately $57.7M. TSS International, which is based in Watford, United Kingdom, designs
and

manufactures inertial sensing and other systems for the offshore energy, oceanographic, and
military market. TSS International's products are used for detailed positioning in hydrographic
surveys, used for controlling floating offshore drilling rigs and a
lso for laying sub
-
sea
telecommunications cables and pipelines. The deal was worth approximately $57.7M.

According to Teledyne, TSS had revenues of approximately $23.0M for its fiscal year, ended
March 31, 2007. TSS will become Teledyne SG Brown Limited an
d Teledyne TSS Limited.
