Course Aim

Main Aim

Study of the patterns of energy change. Most of this course
will be concerned wit
h understanding the patterns of
energy change.

More specifically, thermodynamics deals with heat and
work and those properties of substance that bear a relation
to heat and work.

Sub
-
Aims

Discuss the fundamentals and basic concepts of
thermodynamics wit
h emphasis on the properties of
common liquids, vapors and gases.

Describe the basic tools necessary to obtain solutions to
common applications involving energy and its conversion,
and conservation for the different thermodynamic systems.

Recognize the fir
st and second laws of thermodynamics
and their relevance to engineering applications
