Course description
As a Cisco Academy, The Open University can offer students the opportunity to study the
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) programme. Cisco is a worldwide leader in
networking for the internet, and students will use the latest online CCNA curriculum for most
of their study. This course will provide them with the knowledge, understanding, and skills
needed to configure a LAN/WAN using Cisco equipment. They will be provided with hands-on
experience of configuring networks at four day schools (a compulsory element of the course).
If students successfully complete this course, they will be able to go on and gain the industry
recognised certification by taking the CCNA examination.
Person specification
The person specification for this course should be read in conjunction with the generic person
for an associate lecturer at The Open University.
As well as meeting all the requirements set out in the generic person specification, you should
 successfully completed semesters 1–4 of CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
training as an Academy Instructor.
It would be an advantage to have:
 a CCAI (Cisco Certified Academy Instructor).
