human society in health care, agriculture, environment and industry. Biotechnology has made a significant
impact on Agriculture, Bio
-
Industry, pharmaceuticals and Medical science in the last five decades. It is
knowledge intensive field and requires speci
alized, highly skilled human resource to conduct research, ensure
its application and generate commercial enterprises. Some of the newer like environmental Biotechnology,


proteomics/Genomics, Molecular Genetics, Biosafety, Industrial Biotechnology, Drug d
esigning, IPR and
patenting in biotechnology need attention in the coming years. Biotechnology is the combination of techniques
and knowledge of Biology and Chemistry
-
specially bioengineering chemistry which includes biochemical
engineering and other physi
cal science.

The course is designed to cover areas of biochemical engineering, food technology, Advanced genetic
engineering, Advanced protein engineering, Enzyme technology, Animal and plant Biotechnology,
Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.
