OGC Web Services Pilot for Integrated Environmental Modeling

Description:



Purpose: Advance OGC Services for executing, integrating and accessing results of
environmental models.


An OGC Pilot is a type of activity from the
OGC Interoperability Program (IP)
. A
pilot
is a
rapid
hands
-
on
collaborative engineering

effort to

develop

and test
prototype interoperable infrastructures based on OGC standards
.
Pilot projects help
users understand how to best implement interoperable geoprocessing that meets
their requirements for application, spatial data, and

geoprocessing service sharing.

These projects also help identify gaps for further work.

The Pilot will leverage all
the OGC membership technical and domain knowhow. OGC has more than 400
members world wide that can potentially participate in the Pilot by wrapping model
services, making

models available for the project, and providing engineering
expertise.

In this activity different models will be run via OGC Web Services (WPS) and
model data will be available via Web Coverage Service (WCS). The scenario will
be based on integrating cli
mate, land use, hydrology, and ecological models to
provide species distribution / habitat suitability, indicator of Ecosystems integrity.
