“Technological developments
over the past 30 years
have had
only
positive
effects on
people’s health”.
To what extent can this statement be justified as a view on the
impact of technology on health? Choose at least
3 examples of how technology
influences
people’s health on which to focus your research.
Introduction:

1.
Medical
technology
2.
Internet technology

(Lovis, 2000)
The term electronic
patient
record (EPR) means the electronic
collection of clinical narrative and diagnostic reports specific to an
individual patient. A true EPR should allow physicians and nurses
to practice in a paperless fashion. The wide adoption of Internet
technologies should
allow truly distributed sharing of patient data
across traditional organizational barriers. Hence, the meaning of
an EPR, as a representation of documents, should be transformed
into a collaborative environment that supports workflow, enables
new care mod
els and allows secure access to distributed health
data. This paper reviews the current realization of EPRs in the
context of paper

based medical records. The Internet architecture

based medical informatics researchers refer to as

scribed in the context of a successful
implementation of CareWeb at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical
center. Finally, we describe how this Internet

be extended beyond the boundaries of traditional care settings to
help evolve new collab

(Bremer, 2005)
Explain how the Internet has entered children's lives and notes
some of its potential positive and negative influences on children.
Although the Internet's effects on a given child vary based on each
child's char
acteristics and how the child uses the Internet, adults
still must have a fundamental understanding of these general
potentials. An awareness of the hazards inherent to children's
Internet use is essential for all who work with children so they can
apply p
reventive measures and help keep children safe. Whether a
child uses the Internet and how a child uses the Internet
significantly impact the Internet's influence on him or her. A child's
personality and developmental needs also inevitably modify the
Intern
et's influence on him or her.
