Q
uestion
:
Attachment #1,
Electrical Requirements, General, item 5, page 6: A clarification was

A

: The manufacturer is required to protect the wiring. Bare unprotected wiring will get
snagged and damaged over time. As long as the wiring is secured and protected it is acceptable.
Protected means behind channel, in cond
uit or tucked up where it can not be snagged.

Q
uestion
:
Attachment #1,
Electrical Requirements, Dealer Installed Wiring, item 1, page 6: We
would like to supply solid core wiring and Truck Lite sealed system. Is this acceptable?

A
nswer
: No. Please not
e this section is for dealer installed wiring. Any wiring added by the
dealer must meet specification. The intent is to keep the dealer from installing wiring that is
inferior to the manufacturer’s standards. Solid core wiring installed by either the ma
nufacturer or
dealer is not acceptable on mobile equipment. The city would expect the manufacturer to use
SAE stranded wire as a minimum. Solid core wire is intended for stationary applications and will
break rather then flex on mobile equipment.
