Introduction

NETCO$TER

is a software tool developed and used by Bayphase to
generate capital and operating costs for oil
and gas projects. The system is based on data gathered from a wide range of international projects executed by
the company over the past 20 years
.

The cost modules are updated

twice per

year

throu
gh reference to market
data
base
s, supplier quotations and cost trends identified by Bayphase in
the

projects it implements. In addition
key

cost rates are moni
tored on a monthly basis
and
users

are given access to this data
to enable them to
develop fully
up
-
to
-
date

estimates.

The system is modular in form and is used to estimate cost for the full range of oil and gas projects:



Small, large and giant fields.



Oil, condensate and non
-
associated gas.



Onshore

and offshore.



In any international location.



Sweet and sour fields.

NETCO$TER

Offshore
Drilling Module

is designed to allow the
User
to estimate the cost of drilling an
offshore
well for any level of production rate. The
User
inputs the field data

more accurate the estimate will be

follows a series of steps to define the drilling configuration. Wells
types covered include:

Once the steps have been completed

provides a breakdown of
the

costs. The database uses a
series of algorithms to determine

osts. The data base follows a strict categorisation that is applied to all
modules. This is shown in Table 2.

This categorisation is strictly maintained as all past projects have been analysed using this matrix; in addition it
broadly follows categorisations used in the

The
Offshore Drilling Module’s

engineering algorithms are based on drilling engineering principles and
experience from the drilling of actual wells in several of the world’s oil and gas provinces. The module is very
flexible:



Users can considered intricately tailored logging and testing programs
for exploration drilling



Users have an extensive choice of preloaded logging tools but

these

can supplement that
by load
ing

specialised logging suites in to the system for consideratio
n.



The program provides a number of cost data bases for the world’s key oil and gas provinces but

can customise these to generate their own databases (up to three) based on their own experience.

Users can input the number of wells to be drilled in a given campaign and the Offshore Drilling Module
will compute how one off costs

key component in establishing a

all aspects of the costs associated with their delivery. Costs have been the subject

fluctuat

across the board but none more so then drilling rig day rates.

program through dialogue screens.
The dialogue screens have two parts;

allow the user to proceed without providing/selecting required data.

which are calculated/generated from
NETCO$TER
’s technical data based on the input
data. Where applicable/allowed, the user may either use the suggested values by re

typing them in the

This allows the user to use their experience and better reflect their knowledge if they have
more accurate data thereby improving the accuracy of the estimate
