ABSTARCT



The purpose of any framed building is to transfer the loads of the structure plus

any imposed loads through the members of the frame to a suitable foundation. This form
of construction can be cl
ad externally with light weight nonload bearing walls to provide
the necessary protection from the Framed building are particulary suitable for medium
and high

rise structures and for industrialized low rise buildings such as single storey
factory building
s.



The objective of this project as to design a steel roof truss, steel column, purlins,
column base, sheeting rails and other members. Before start the design, we need to know
the loading acting on the building. There are three types of loading

consider
ed here, dead
load, imposed load and wind load. The dead loads due sheeting, weight steel purlins,
truss, column and other members. This loads may range from 0.3 to 1.0 Kn per metre
square. The dead load should be estimated for any particular case. However
, the imposed
loads on roofs where the wind suction can cause reversal of loads in the members and it
is acted normal to the roof surface. The wind loads are estimated from CP 3: Chapter V:
Part 2 and depends on the building dimensions and roof slope among

other factor.



Steel roof truss is a plane frame consisting of a series of rigid triangles composed
of compression and tension members. The compression members are called rafter or strut
and the tension members are t
ermed ties. Normally, steel roof truss
es are positioned
between 3 to 7.5 metre centers and support by universal column. The forces acting in the
members can be solved by method of joints or method of sections.

From the tittle

of the project given to me, I am supposed to design a can
tilever car
porch roof for two cars. The design should be of reinforced concrete. The purpose of this
project is

for the roof should be able to give should be provided for the rainwater to flow
down. The design should look as pleasant as possible as it is an external part of building.
The reinforced concrete car porch is designed as a cantilever structure which form

part of
a reinforced concrete multistory building with columns inside to support.





What is a concrete beam?

In terms of civil engineering, a beam is a long piece
of concrete that is horizontal and supported at one end or both ends that carries the weig
ht
of part of building or some other structure.



What is a reinforced concrete?

A reinforced concrete with metal

bars or wires
embedded in it to give greater strength to structures and buildings.



What is a cantilever beam?

A cantilever beam is beam that

is fixed at one end
while the other end is freely. They carry loads that vary from

, Uniformly
Distributed Loads or fixed loads or even both sometimes. In the world there are many
engineering structures that are supported by cantilever beams. Examples
of such beams

ABSTRACT



The function of a modern industrial building is to support and house a
manufacturing process or to store the raw materials for (
or product of) a manufacturing
process.



Many industrial plants are being lo
cated in small population centers expansion,
and the opportunity for providing a pleasing environment away from congested city
areas. Other factors which must be considered in the site selection are topography,
subsoil conditions, transportation, and utili
ties.



With the site selected, the planning of the production process and the structure to
house it can proceed. Using the total area and volume requirements established for the
preliminary planning, the exterior dimensions can be developed. Square or nea
rly square
areas are usually more economical because they require less exterior wall le
ngth.



Dimensions of individual bays within the structure are often dictated by the
manufacturing process. Large, clear areas unobstructed by columns and partitions are

desirable as to provide sufficient flexibility and to facilities later change in the production
layout without major building alterations. The plan must also allow for future expansion,
preferably by expanding the plant on any or all of its four sides wit
hout shifting existing
production layouts.
