SCOPE

The scope of the special issue is to celebrate the work of the late Professor John G
Taylor. Professor Taylor began his career in 1956 as a theoretical physicist and
ha

contributed

ny
seminal

papers and books
to
high energy physics,
black holes,
quantum gravity and string theory.
He held p
ositions in
leading

Universities in the
UK, USA and
Europe in physics and mathematics.
He c
reated

the Centre for Neural
Networks at King‘s College,

London, in 1990, and
is still its
Director.

He was
ap
pointed Emeritus Professor of Mathematics of London University in 1996.
He w
as
Guest Scientist at

the Research Centre in Juelich, Germany, 1996

imaging and data analysis. He h

consultant in Neural Networks to several
companies.
He i

the
Director of Research on Global

Bond products and Tactical
Asset Allocation for a financial investment company involved in time

series
prediction. He is presently European Editor

Neural Networks
and was

President of the International Neural Network Society (1995) and the
European Neural Network

Society (1993/4).

Since 2009, he is
founding
Chair of the
Advisory Editorial Board for

the journal

Cognitive Computation

He
has been working in the field of Neural Networks since 1969. He has contributed
ever since

to all aspects of neural networks and cognitive computation

including their
applications to finance and robotics.
