For Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server, the easiest is to install the Pre

c
omes

with
MicroSt
ation

V8 XM, because this contains the .NET 1.1 Framework.

You can also download it from the Microsoft website.

6. Configuring the SELECTserver Database

SELECTserver uses a SQL server database to store information about the products and usages.
After the Installati

changes you can open it from:

All Programs>Bentley>SELECT Server>
SELECT Server Database Utility

If you open it straight after the installation, the installer
has remembere
d the password. (Entered in Chapter 5,
step 8) . If you have chosen to use your own SQL
server or existing MSDE instanace, you need to enter
this information manually.

After Entering the details, click on NEW to create a
database.

Type

a name and click

OK.

After this, click OK on the main page. The Database
will be configured for SELECT Server. When it’s
complete, you will see this message:

!

When there is an error message regarding MSXML2,
go to this site to download a fix:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823490/

When the database configuration is completed, and no existing SELECT Server License is detected,

The serial number is al
ready entered, and so is the code.

You receive a "Page not found" error when opening the SELECT Server V8 XM Edition

the “Server Settings” from the left menu, and enter your proxy configuration.
