mail is a 3 step process


1.

C
onfigure OnCommand Insight Report
to use your email server.

2.

Set your time

zone on IBM Cognos
Configuration.

3.

Set schedule on each report which needs to be delivered by mail.


Configure OnCommand Insight Report to use your email server




On the host where OnCommand Insight Report is installed, select
Start > IBM Cognos 8 > IBM
Cognos Configuration
.



In the
Explorer pane
, under Data Access, select
Notification
.



In the
Notification
-

Component Properties pane
, enter inf
ormation about your mail server under
SMTP mail server



Set a default sender value,
Right Click on Notification and Select Test
to send

a
test mail
to the
default sender.



Check
w
hether a test mail w
as delivered to the
default
sender.










Close the mail server
connection

notification window.



Do not close the IBM Cognos Configuration window.


Set your time zone on IBM Cognos
Configuration




In the existing IBM Cognos Configuration window,
Click on Actions
and s
elect


Edit Global
Configuration






In the Global Configuration
Dialog box


Click on General Tab


Set Server time zone to reflect
OnCommand Report server time zone.



Note: Setting the time zone makes sure the reports are delivered in sync with the OnCommand Report
server time zone.




Click on OK to save the Global configuration settings.




In the IBM Cognos Configuration dialog box, Click on File


Select save to save the configuration
settings.









Exit the IBM Cognos Configuration window by selecting File


Exit.

After the Services are
restarted, Close the notification popup dialog b
ox.

h needs to be delivered by mail




Log in to reporting connection using
http://OnCommand_report_server_ipaddress:8080

as an
admin or as a reporting author.



Navigate to the report which needs to be scheduled for email distribution.






Click on the scheduling icon
pertaining to

the report
.








In schedule a report window. Set the required frequency
for the report delivery by day or week
or month







In the same schedule a report window, Navigate to Options section, select override the default
values option
to select the format for email delivery. You can select from html, PDF, EXCEL etc.





Under the delivery section in the same screen, Select send a
link to the report by email and Click
on Edit the options






In the set email options popup window, specify the recipients of the email for this report. You
can also specify whether you would like the report to be delivered by mail or a link to the repor
t
through email is sufficient.








Save the schedule settings for the report under consideration.


Repeat the set schedule process for each report which needs to be delivered by mail.
