1. Overview


InfoWrap Technologies Inc. develops and markets unique computerized vision and image
processing systems and tools for real time video processing and streaming. The c
ompany’s
core technology is automatic segmentation, extraction and analysis of moving objects in video
sequences. As for now, there is no such commercial solution in the digital video market.
Among the many uses and applications for automatic objects segme
ntation, extraction and
analysis are: “smarter” adaptive bit allocation for video sequences, achievements of high
quality of service, surveillance and automatic tracking and remote securing systems, video
compression and streaming over error prone network
(such as cellular networks), interactive
TV (hyperlinked video) and video network games, automatic analysis of sport events, change
detection among images. The company develops other breakthrough technologies as detailed
below.


The company completed th
e development of the core technology, tested it and now it is in an
integration and pre
-
sales stage. We are integrating the technology into products. The
integrated systems provide full working systems (“turn
-
key solutions”). The emphasis in
InfoWrap’s pr
oduct is to provide a complete working solution.

The Team

InfoWrap’s R&D team is based on very experience algorithms team backed with deep
academic and research capabilities. The team leader is

rof. Amir Averbuch

from Tel Aviv
University, who founded
the company and serves as the CTO of InfoWrap. The other two
founders of the company are
Prof. Ronald Coifman

from Yale University and
Prof. Dave
Donoho

from Stamford University. Both Prof. Coifman and Prof. Donoho are seating on the
advisory board of the
company and helping the algorithm team.

Other then the professors the company employees two PhD students of Prof. Averbuch in the
field of advanced mathematics and algorithms and eight talented programmers.


Mr. Oz Leave



CEO. Mr. Leave is a former comman
der of the Technological unit of the
Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in charge of over 1500 engineers and scientists. Before that he
was the head of elite commando unit in the IDF. Mr. Leave holds a B.Sc degree in EE from
Tel Aviv University. He is also a sen
ior advisor to a leading VC in Israel.

GLOBAL MOTION COMPEN
SATION

Gradient based motion estimation techniques (GM) are considered to be in the heart
of state
-
of
-
the
-
art registration algorithms, being able to account for both pi
xel and
subpixel registration and to handle various motion models (translation, rotation,
affine, projective). These methods estimate the motion between two images based on
the local changes in the image intensities while assuming image smoothness. This
m
ethod offers two main contributions: (i) Enhancement of the GM technique by
introducing two new bidirectional formulations of the GM. This improves the
convergence properties for large motions. (ii) It speeds the regular GM formulation
by factor of 20.

was incorporated into InfoWrap’s MPEG

4.



DSP IMPLEMENTATION

Beta version of the most advanced video encoder was completed. It produces the
current

version of the standard bit stream (the standard has not been finalized yet). It
is much faster and produces better results than the standard. Many proprietary
featur
es, which were developed for MPEG

4 such as optimization and bit rates
control, were inserted into the code. The object segmentation will be incorporated
into the code. Upon request it can be ported into a DSP.


CHANGE DETECTION


It is based on patent 7




Automatic detection of changes between two images. The images can be
unregistered (translated, scaled, rotated) having different sizes and illumination,
different types of noise, captured by different sensors (infra red, regular CCD
camera, different lense
s, etc.) in different periods of the day. They can be captured
from different angles such as satellite (vertical) or regular horizontal photography.
The output is one of the images with marks of the changes.


TRACKING




Fast automatic tracking of contou
rs among consecutive video frames. It is based on
InfoWrap’s unique tracker that also contains Kalman filter, KLT tracker,
triangulation and colors and additional proprietary features.

presentation. Visual tracking plus accumulated statistics of the players are presented. It
provides a complete digital analysis of sports events. It allows on line (real

cable TV operators, viewers, trainers, games, TV director, sports anchorman, sport
editor, referees, interactive TV. It provides accumulated statistical gathering and
graphical presentation of all the interesting events in the game. The game is captured

from several cameras around the field so that many viewing angles can be processed. All

the games over the whole seasons are being inserted into a multimedia database for in
depth comparative analysis of events and their associated statistics.



The playe
rs, referees and ball will be automatically tracked. This is based on InfoWrap’s
two technologies: 1. Object segmentation and extraction (explained above) in still images
and video sequences. 2. InfoWrap’s tracking technology that was developed for
surveil
lance. Initially, we apply the object’s segmentation and extraction to get the
contours of the moving objects. Then we apply the tracker to follow them. When we lost
the tracking then we apply again the object’s segmentation and extraction.

3. InfoWrap’s Integrated Surveillance System


It is based on patents 2,3,5,6,7,12,14


The company’s Surveillance System is targeting the security and defense
markets. The
product enables to have automatic detection of objects entering secured zones including
notification between types of different objects, auto
-
zoom on object, automatic tracking of the
moving object, transmission of the image to control center
even over narrow band links and a
very effective storage and retrieval of specific events from storage.


The Surveillance System integrates parts of the above InfoWrap’s core technologies so that
we get a complete system that performs the following tasks:



Illumination correction. Automatic adaptation to illumination changes around the
clock. Automatic adaptation to the surrounding changes. Thus, the system becomes
insensitive to illumination changes.
