Why
Search Engine Optimization is a
Must for y
our Business

By Phyllis De Falco Kentelton All rights reserved

Search engine o
ptimization, commonly known as
(SEO
)

is a crucial factor for
ev
eryone in business. Don’t

fool yourself into thinking that because you are not
an

e commerce business; meaning a
completely on
-

line business, that you don’
t
need to know how to use this

internet marketing

tool. If you have a we
bsite to
drive traffic to your business in order to gain new customers, then you need to
read on.

And if you think you don’t need a website, you stand to be left behind in
the dust.

First let’s take a look at what
search engine optimization
is.

In simple

terms, it is
a marketing tool geared to drive prospective clients to your website to purchase
your products or services.

Here is

an exampl
e
for those

who are unfamiliar with
(SEO)
.

Your website is your storefront.

The people walking by your storefront are the people that just
happen
to
be there

(randomly)
; which is not

enough traffic for

you to d
epend on for
daily revenue.

The people looking for your product or service are not
yet

aware you exist.

Your prospective
clients go to the yellow pages

and look

under the same
business

heading

you have.

The
y

find AA plus services; and it’s not you
,

because you named
yours
Eckstein

enterprises

under E
.

No one is going past the first five listings.

If t
he
customer doesn’t have

the time to call more than

the first three in
the book then

viola
you’ve lost
!

You may be the best in the business you are in
but, no

one will
know it.

So what does this have to do with the internet and
(SEO)
?

As stated above, your website is your
storefront
.

The
Key words

you type in, for example
,

“dentist in Orlando”
act

like the
Yellow Pages index

under
the

letter

of your
business
-

type
.

The listings you bring up with those keywords are like the
listings
on that
specific page in
Yellow Pages.

T
his is where you and all your competitors
lye.

Here is where the
(SEO)

comes in.

When you name your business you should use the most popular keywords
that people are searching for when they are looking for your type of
business.

You can go to Google ana
lytics for a report of what people are using for
your type of business.

Incorporate those keywords into your website name and into the name of
your pages as well.

Now, it’s time to write about your business in articles or blogs on your site
using those sam
e keywords.

This is what
(SEO)
actually is. It optimizes the content in the website or article so
that you can outrank your competitors.

Very important note:

When you initially create your site, Google with
‘crawl’

it
and
will detect a myriad of things we won’t get into right now.
In relation to
keywords, it will kick out and label your site
spam
,

among other things if they find
that
your site and content

are

keyword

stuffed.

The correct term is
keyword density.

You wi
ll hear this often and it is the
determining factor in whether or not you
r

site is in danger or your article will be
ignored. Here comes the clincher with this; you either need practice yourself

by

spending time on the internet or wasting time with trial a
nd error
;

or
, you can

simply find an
(SEO)

specialist or two to help you optimize your content.

You have to spend a little to make a lot and I know you
are aware of that
so we
won’t get into it here
.

If you do have the time to

do

research, I’ll save you a
little
aggravation.
People
will argue about
what
good keyword density is, for instance
,

some argue

that

if
you have

over 3% KWD

you have an issue. People
with experience usually say that
your

keyword
s should not show any more tha
n once every hundred words;

that is
1% keyword density in a 500 word article.

Always use your keywords where they make sense and you should by nature have
a good keyword rich article with no density issues
,

especially if you write as if you
are having a
conversation.

Through a little research and practice you can learn to spot your errors in no time
but a consultation
with an
(SEO)

expert is a must at some point early in your
business history.
