Terms of Reference for Centre of Farm Business Management
Advisory Group (as at November 2011)

General

The Advisory Group will provide the Centre Director and staff with advice and recommendations
pertaining to the relevance of programmes to meet industry

needs. The Group will provide valued
guidance on research, higher education and professional development priorities for the farm
management profession. At times the Group may be requested by industry to endorse specific
proposals or initiatives.

The Advisory Group will operate towards their respective organisations and the Centre with:

edness and forward planning


Members of the Advisory Group represent their respective organisations and act in the interests of
the Centre. They will report to their respective organisations regarding Centre activities.

Responsibilities

1.

Advise the Centre o
n the appropriateness of proposed projects in relation to industry or
organisational strategies and targets.

2.

Provide comment to the Centre on the contribution that active projects are making towards
industry strategies and targets.

3.

Recommend opportunities
and actions that may enhance the performance of the Centre.

4.

Propose partnerships and networks that will extend the influence of the Centre.

5.

Suggest ways to extend the impact of the Centre by appreciating significant industry trends
pertinent to the functio
ns of the Centre.

6.

Endorse outputs and proposals as required by industry investors.

7.

Report to their respective organisations regarding the current and potential contributions
that the Centre is making to their industry or profession.

Meeting and procedure

1.

The Centre will comprise membership from DairyNZ, Beef&LambNZ, HorticultureNZ, NZIPIM,
AgITO and Dairy Australia.

2.

Members from these organisations can substitute members in their absence.

3.

The DairyNZ member will chair the Advisory Committee.

4.

The Advisory
group will meet at least quarterly and will require four members to form a
quorum.

5.

In cases of voting, all members have one vote.

6.

Decisions will be made on a majority basis

7.

Termination of membership is at the discretion of the member or their
organisation. Change
of membership will be negotiated between the Chair of the Advisory Group, the relevant
organisation, and the Director of the Centre.
