Position and Specific Duties


Organisational Context


Amaze

is the peak body for Autism Spectrum Disorders in the state of Victoria.

This ‘Not for
Profit’ Incorporated Association was formed in 1967 and c
urrently has a mailing list of 8,5
00
members and established liaison with government and the wider disability s
ector.


Amaze
’s aim is to improve the quality of life for people affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders,
their family and carers. The organisation is funded by a number of State and Commonwealth
Departments including the State Departments of Human Services
(DHS) and Education and
Early Childhood Development and the Commonwealth Department of Families, Community
Services Housing and Indigenous Affairs to specifically provide a range of services to
individuals and agencies with an interest in Autism Spectrum D
isorders.


Current Organisational Structure


Amaze

is governed by a Board of Management comprising 9 members elected on a 3 year
rotational cycle.

Responsibilities Statement


The
Business Development and Strategic Planning Manager

will have the following
re
sponsibilities
-


Leadership and Strategy




Be able to articulate the business development plan within the framework of
the
Amaze
vision,

mission
and organisational strategic objectives
.



Actively participate in

the process of developing strategic objectives in conjunction with
the
CEO
, Management Team

and the
Amaze

governing body



Support Amaze and the organisational reputation as a professional, strategic and
forward thinking organisation.




Provide critical anal
ysis in the identification and development of business and service
delivery models that may be implemented by the organisation.



Maintain
and build on relationship
s

both from members and the service system
(including key government contacts) to promote and
enhance strategic and business
plans.









Organisational and Business Development




Ensure the soundness of the organisation’s financial position by developing and
reviewing
new business models that support the service needs of individuals with an
Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families.



In consultation with the CEO and the Senior Management Team
Develop and implement
business plans to achieve the organisation’s strategic goals and objectives
.



In consultation with the CEO identify service gaps and
develop service models in
response.



Increase the organisation’s income generation strategy to ensure
Amaze

is revenue,
resource and reserve secure



In consultation with the Marketing and Communication M
anager source new funding
from within the philanthropic and corporate sectors to support individuals and families.



Develop formal alliances and corporate partnerships to maximise
Amaze
’s resources
and strategic objectives


Financial and Resource Management




Ensure income generation to agreed targets



Develop budgets for presentation to, and approval by, the
CEO




In consultation with the CEO, Management team and staff identify other funding options
and prepare submissions for CEO and Board approval



Ensure opt
imal use of personnel, resources and information technology



Meet the requirements of service agreements with relevant government agencies and
funding bodies.


Service Quality and Organisational

Effectiveness




Ensure
business and strategic plans are
presented for consideration in a timely and
appropriate format



Ensure
the
reputational position of
Amaze

is enhanced through the development of
innovative and responsive service system models.



Regularly report to the
CEO

on achievement of key performance indicators.



Compliance and Reporting




Ensure timely reporting of data and financial information to funding bodies

where
appropriate




Ensure service targets are met and full compliance with funding body legislative, poli
cy
and quality requirements.



Risk Management


Develop and implement risk management processes for
all service and business development
proposals
.


To perform such duties as are prescribed in writing from time to time by the
Chief
Executive Officer
.


Limits of Authority


The
Business Development and Strategic Planning Manager

has
delegated authority in
line with
the organisations Governance and financial management policies
. All the authority is given to
the role that such accountability deserves.


The

Business Development and Strategic Planning Manager

has the authority to:

dvocate on behalf of the
organisation

to

promot
e

its aims and objectives and current
programs;



Negotiate

contracts
to be submitted to the Chief Executive Officer for comment (all

contracts require formal Board approval prior to signing.)



Manage direct staff, including hiring and disciplinary matters
in consultation with the
Chief E
xecutive Officer and

in accordance with policies and approved budgets
