initial concept / vision


Overview


The purpose of this project is to increase community development of Open 3D (O3D) by
leveraging Google Web Toolkit’s powerful, optimized, and robust JSNI
framework.

By integrating rapid
application creation and build processes into an O3D development tool, we will see a rapid evolution of
how User Interface Components look, feel, and act with the User Agent.

This pr
oject is being developed using N
etbeans, so until the need arises it is assumed that you are using
the
latest version of N
etbeans. Documentatio
n and project build contributions are welcome.

The four sec
tions are equally important, as which they are all included within one unifying trunk of the
SVN. Further branches may be taken of specific child projects, as needed.

A java server is not current
ly bundled with the test project. It is assumed that you will be importing this
into Netbeans IDE, or eclipse, if you know how to do that sort of thing. The test project does contain the
gwt lib files and all other necessary source code required to build,
test, debug, and deploy o3d testing
functionality. Think of this as something like a sand box for experimenting with o3d plug
-
ins.

Future things that would be awesome additions, would be sometype of AJAX/COMET child project which
could handle the robust Ne
twork API’s for networking and linking instances of O3D on the internets.
Another wish list item, would be some type of xml database integration optimized for component
/object registry within a project using this module.
