Cloud Computing Survey Results

The Medical Informatics 408 class was asked to respond to a Cloud Computing
Survey. The class was asked to rate the importance of certain cloud computing risks
from 1 (risk was
of

no

importance
) to 5 (risk was of very high importance).

Eight
people from t
he class responded to the survey with their ratings.

In rank order from most important risk to least important risk, the survey results
are summarized in the table below. The greatest risk
s associated with using a cloud
-
computing environment according to

the class respondents were data protection,
malicious insider, privacy concerns, compliance risks, and insecure or incomplete
data detection. The class was somewhat less concerned about compatibility issues,
scalability and parallel programming, and netwo
rk and storage constraints.

Survey

results are also displayed in the chart below. The numbers on the ordinate (y
axis) refer to the number of people who responded to the survey, with the specific
cloud computing risks
shown on the abscissa (x axis). The colors refer to the
responses (1
-
5)
rating the importance of the cloud computing risk. For example,
privacy and data protection received the highest rating (5) from the most people (7
people), followed by compliance risks (6 people) and loss of governance (5 people).
None of the respondents
selected the lowest rating (1) for any of the cloud
computing risks.

Thank you to all who responded to the survey!!
