Tentative Outline

Special Issue for ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN CHEMICAL
ENGINEERING

Aims & Scope:

This special issue aimed at providing a recent update on the use of artificial
intelligence methods and techniques in chemical engineering applications. The
technologies employed include (but are not limited) the artificial neural networks,
genetic and evolutionary algorithms, fuzzy logic and hybrid systems. The latter are
systems employing more than one artificial intelligence technique either as part of a
unified problem solution or to perform separate specific tasks. Contribution could also
address the significance of artificial intelligence techniques in modeling and
optimization of chemical engineering processes. The focus should be on the
description of the particular artificial intelligence technique employed, the way the
training and validation data were collected and separated into the two aforementioned
groups, the training and simulation results with error analysis, as well as the
significance of the method on the particular application and its advantage over the
traditional analytic techniques.
