Overview:


History


ShareCenter is an open
-
source platform designed for organic sharing and collaborative work. Its devel
opment has been funded by the
CTSA Program (National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences) through grants to the University of California at San Fra
ncisco
(2008
-
09) and Oregon Health and Science University (2011
-
12).


Credits


Original development w
as led by Maninder Kahlon, PhD (UCSF) and Christopher Kelleher (OHSU). System architecture, Drupal
development, and project management was provided by Ben Sharma of Zaloni, Inc.

Ongoing development has been led by Christopher Kelleher, with significant con
tributions from Christina Elmore (OHSU). Zaloni Inc. has
continued to provide system architecture, Drupal development, and project management (Will Corbett, Ranjit Das, and Ben Sharm
a).

Created and maintained as a tool for the CTSA Consortium, ShareCenter
can be implemented by organizations, either in a standalone
installation or via cloud
-
based hosting provided by Zaloni, Inc.


Installation


ShareCenter uses the Drupal 7 content management system. The open
-
source installation package can be downloaded at
w
ww.getsharecenter.org. Cloud
-
based hosting is available through Zaloni, Inc.

Forgot your password?



If you have forgotten your password, then just follow the simple steps below:



Click on
the link “Have you forgotten your password?”or click “Request new password” tab on the login block.




You will be redirected to a page which will ask you to enter your username or email address.




On clicking “email new password” you will get an

r registered email address with a link to login once and set your
password.

Pop Up for incomplete profile:







A user with an incomplete profile will see a pop up as shown in the screenshot above.
Whenever the user logs in for the first time, he will
see the pop
-
up.

After entering these fields, the pop

up will disappear next time whenever the user logs in.

How to use all the features?

Contribute form:



User

n create content whether Request, Resource or Discussion through the contribute form. They need to fill the following fields:

Groups

Study:

Go to the

Add New Study
” to create a new study.



2. Enter all the required fields.

OG Mailing notifications:

OG Mailing is
a feature that applies primarily to
group content and allows users
to reply and comment by email. Users will have the


ability to configure OG mailing on groups to which they are members.





2. A user has to go to his account page and select the tab
“Notification options”

to opt in and out of subscriptions to all group content
.

Channels:


Custom codes and Drupal OG module
is

used to c
reate a new Channel module for ShareC
enter. The Channel module replicate
s

all the pages



of ShareCenter but
is

a subset of content unified und
er a single theme. Users
can

organize around a channel and
are
able to share content

across channels via a 'global' sharing space.


By
clicking on the

home page

logo
, the user can change the view. If the current view is channel, then the user can switc
h to global view just
by
flipping the logo
. When a user is in a channel, then all the pages of the site will show the channel theme. All the pages will be same like
as in global, only the theme will be channel theme and all the content present will be of c
hannel. No global content will get displayed in
channel and vice
-
versa.


A user can be a member of a single channel and he cannot access content of channels of which he is not a member.

A user can only access his channel if only he is being assigned to it.

As soon as he log in to the site, he is able to see his channel’s logo on the
top of the home page.


If a user is removed from his current channel to another channel, then all the contents that he created will move to the glob
al view. This is
valid for
groups also. Groups and group
content will move to Global. In case if the group is private
, then it will be displayed in g
lobal

view

but can be accessible only to the group members.

The Administration menu is the administration interface
which gives access to the administrative resources and functi
ons of the Drupal
installation.
The menu is displayed if a user has the permissions 'access administration menu' and 'access administration pages'.

To enable/ disable channel configuration, in the admin menu hover on confi
guration.

On the list under it, click “Configure ShareCenter channel” and enable/disable it from the form.
