Janet and
Roshayne
demonstrated the first version of the MLA template as
applied as a

Drupal

theme! There are a variety of issues to resolve, but the
initial progress is very encouraging. Janet will continue working to make t
he
theme more closely resemble the HTML mockup. Roshayne will install the
new release of Drupal, which supports PHP version 5, and work on file
permission settings. She will install the following modules:

Feedback form

o

Breadcrumb navigation

o

Calendar

The Tech Group decided that it will be best to wait until the template is
completed before adding content, especially in the case that a different
starting template is required. Eric will work on roles and permissions after
Rosh
ayne has set up the initial roles and nodes. It was decided that there will
be likely three types of roles: administrator (WAC members share one
account), MLA staff (possibly shared), Group webmasters (one account per
group so that the webmaster can only
update minutes, etc. for that group).

Larry
presented an outline for documentation
.

Roshayne recommended that MLA consider making a donation to Drupal for
the license of the CMS to help further its development.

The MLA Board has decided to table the electronic elections this spring. Larry
will distribute a copy of
the MLA Electronic Voting White Paper, which will be
used as a basis for the LTD election which will again be conducted
electronically. Larry will handle the programming as last year. Jan and Larry
will work with Linda Farynk to develop association
-
wide el
ectronic elections
for 2006.

Content Group Meeting

Gretchen will review the Drupal manual to understand how the site
taxonomy, page, story and URL alias process will work.

Gretchen has assigned content development areas to the team. Although the
Tech Gr
oup is not ready for conversion to beg
in, each member should review
their area to see what content may need to be written.

Per the calendar, it appears that there are some unanticipated limitations in
BosDates. Drupal offers events and calendar modules. R
oshayne will load
them and Anne will see if Drupal can better meet our needs. There are other
benefits, including single webmaster login, integration with the template and
possibly integration with the search engine. Anne will confirm with the MLA
staff ou
r goals for the calendar: Main calendar to be moderated by MLA staff
with workshop, conference and executive board meeting dates. Group
calendars for group board meetings,
m
aintained by group webmasters
,
preferably a simple text list as is on current grou
p pages
. A meeting room
request process for groups wishing to meet at the MLA offices should be
included. Last, a global view of all events happening across all of MLA,
probably as an option, which would include all workshops, conferences, and
group board
meetings.

Larry will inquire about MLA’s interest in considering PayPal as a method of
receiving funds. Drupal offers a module to accept payments, which could
ultimately be used for easier forms creating, and simplified registration for
users.
