Background to proposed rule changes

When we move to the new boathouse we will have much improved land facilities. In addition to rowing members
hip

we anticipate having a “gym”
membership and a “social” membership. We anticipate that the fees will be rough
ly £300 for full rowing membership, £150 for “gym” membership and £50
for “social” membership.

Our current Associate membership allows use of all non
-
water
-
based facilities and so is equivalent to a “gym” membership. We will need to introduce a
form of “s
ocial” membership.

In talking to past members about how they might support the new boathouse development, several have offered financial support

but would like to be
members of the Club again. To take advantage of this, we wish to offer them a form of “s
ocial” membership for life in return for a donation.

We propose to introduce a class of “social” membership for Patrons. Initially the fee will be £10 per annum, rising when we m
ove to the new boathouse. The
fee for a Life Patron will be £1500. To encoura
ge people to take up this offer
,

and in recognition of the fact that we currently have little to offer for their
money
, we propose that the first 50 Life Patrons will pay £1000.

Other changes proposed are to clarify rules on the election of the Committee
that caused some confusion at the last AGM and a few other minor changes.
