Today we are going to tell you about our “Containing” project.

TruckLanes.

Engine: Why Jmonkey?

We will now explain why we chose Jmonkey as our
engine.

Advantages:

Installation/Integration with NetBeans 6.1 is fairly simple.

Understandable and extensive documentation on the Jmonkey website.

Lots of built
-
in features, picture formats and shapes.

Can use the .obj file format. We created models in .obj using the free
trial of Milkshape 3D.

Disadvantages:

There is almost no documentation about Jmonkey on other websites.
Searching in Google will either send you to the Jmonkey website or
come up with useless results.

Storage

The Storage is a place where containers can be stored. In our
simulator Storages are used in the StorageLanes and on Ships,
Trains and Trucks. Depending on the size they can store 1 or
more containers.

Waypoints

Waypoint are representations of locations on our Terrain. AGV’s,
Vehicles and Cranes use these to move to the right position. All
Waypoints are linked to each other in a Linked List.

Order Lists

In our simulator we have two orderlists. These list can be filled
with orders from Cranes and Vehicles. Cranes, for example, can
call an AGV so they can attach a Container to the AGV.
