What you need to consider and why!

This one day
course introduces staff, managers, trustees and volunteers to the financial
procedures and practices that all organisations, large or small, should

apply to their day

An emphasis on practical exercises will enable attendees to apply good practice in their
organisations
.

Why
is good financial management
crucial?

Money earned or held by the organisation is
held in trust

Trustees or man
agers are therefore
liable

to their members, funders and local
community

Good financial management ensures that
spending does not exceed what is actually
available

and being careful about spending in general

Good financial management should
protect again

An organisation’s financial practices must
comply

with its governing document or
constitution e.g. as it applies to trustees’ powers, personal interest, investment,
accounting, annual reporting and annual return.

annual budget

for your organisation

Establish regular

Accurate, efficient and open financial management is very important
!

Much of the advice on financial management is common sense and is what

most will apply in their personal life.

However, the na
ture of their business and the structure of community

organisations requires a level of control, recording and reporting that the

managing committee must all share and adhere to..

The evidence offered by efficient and transparent financial
procedures

and a balanced and realistic spending programme will impress not only

users, but the local community and potential funders too.

This one day course also builds on the experiences and skills gained by those who
have participated in Communi
ty Matter’s
Developing Your Community Building

3 day
course and is a one of a series of focussed specialist training days that develop
themes covered within that event
.
