Energy is used in every aspect of our life. Our economy and our livelihood are in danger because the way we live
depends on coal and oil. Since
the
demand of these non

renewabl
e resources has increased dramatically, we need to find
a better solution to produce enough energy to address the needs of our country.
Although we are the 2
nd

largest oil
producer

in the world, we use 25% or ¼ of th
e oil produced in the world. The

usage o
f so much oil

in our country,

means that we need more oil than we produce.

he two presidential candidates differ on whether or not we should tap into

offshore

oil reserves. Senator Obama seems
reluctant to drilling offshore, wh
ile Senator McCain seems

ve
ry enthusiastic about
drilling deep into the oceanic crust to
search for oil.
