Course Overview & Objective
This course deals with clinical genetics which includes, structural chromosomes rearrangements,
sex chromosomes and sex chromosomes abnormalities, cytogenetics of infertility, prenatal
cytogenetics, cytogenetics spontaneous abortion, chromosome instability. It also deals with the
importance of genetic counseling in the treatment of genetic disorders. At the end of the course,
student will be able to learn about the significance of clinical cytogenetics and genetic
counseling, understand the role of genetic counseling in the genetic disorder treatment and apply
the gained knowledge in better understanding the clinical cytogenetics.

Pedagogy
Lectures using power point presentations would be employed in the class room. Assignments,
Discussions and a field visit are also a part of the course delivery methodology

Academic Honesty
Regular Attendance is mandatory. Students have to maintain at least 80% attendance in order to
qualify for examinations. Plagiarism: Plagiarism in any form is an academic misconduct. This
includes copying of entire programs/assignments, or portions of programs/assignments written
by someone else without citing appropriate references. Suspected academic misconduct,
including plagiarism or violations of computer usage policies (stated in the student handbook),
will not be ignored but will be dealt with according to the procedures specified by the college.

will affect your grade. Students have to make sure that they are not late to the class. Late entry
