hopping sequence at runtime to decode
communication between two frequency hopping enabled nodes.

Brief Description of The Project / Thesis with Salient Specs
: Frequency hopping is used
as ECM approach in radio communication. The technique is also used for

efficient use of
limited bandwidth such as Bluetooth technology. It will be a breakthrough in the field of secure
communication as most of the equipment used in military and civil today are using frequency
hopping techniques. The project is aimed at deter
mining current frequency in a FH enabled
communication and then uses the acquired information to decode the received data.

In this way the receiver will retrieve the data from those frequencies and the data will thus be
sorted in some order.

Scope of Wor
k
: The project will provide a basic platform for defense agencies to decode FH
enable communication and to retrieve application level data in the absence of encryption. We
will restrict to frequency pattern analysis of FH signals and retrieving of data fro
m those
frequencies.

Academic Objectives
: Students are required to implement the knowledge of DSP, and
analogue / digital communication etc on the project in order to achieve desired objectives.

: Students will be
required to analyze the received signal
to determine current frequency and FH duration. Frequency shift pattern will be determined
recursively. As a second step the determined frequency pattern will be applied on the delayed

Pulse oximetry has gained wide acceptance as a non
-
invasive method for monitoring oxygenation of
hemoglobin in arterial blood and heart beat. However, pulse oximeters are widely used for this purpose,
as well as it is an integral part of num
erous medical procedures, including patient monitoring in the
operating room and intensive care situations, pulmonary evaluations, neonatal diagnoses, oral
surgeries, and the use of general anesthesia. It is not surprising therefore, that pulse oximeters o
ne of
the most requested pieces of medical equipment in developing world hospitals.

The purpose of this project is to design a low cost pulse oximeter that can be used for the remote
oxygen level and pulse monitoring of patients in a hospital.


In this d
esign we observe choosing parts with low cost and high efficiency that could reduce the cost of
our design, we also add to our consider that our circuits has to be simple and easy made circuits so it
also can be made by other biomedical engineers to provid
e a higher number of this devices to cover
every hospital in Pakistan. In additions every person that needs to track his personal health more
efficiently can use it.

Scope of Work

:

The primary aim will be to design pulse oximeter

and store the measurements in a remote database
using an RF link. However, at later stage the other items used in the remote e
-
health monitoring like
digital stethoscope can be included in the project.

Serial Implementation of Cordic algorithms in FPGA

:

Advent of reconfigurable logic has resulted in design of cost effective and fast
hardware.

Cordic algorithm are used in the real time to generation of trigonometric functions in hardware.
The
primary use of the CORDIC algorithms in a hardware implementation is to avoid time
-
consuming
complex multipliers. The hardware implementation can

easily be achieved using only adder and shifter
circuits bypassing the bulky complex number multipliers.

They are used in digital modems.


Scope of Work

:

Initially the cordic algorithms will be simulated in C language. Then Verilog implementation of th
e
algorithm will be carried out and simulated using Xilinx simulator. Finally, the algorithm will be tested
on the FPGA Kit.

Solar Energy Harvesting


PROJECT TITLE:

Electrical energy harvesting using solar radiation


ABSTRACT:

In this era of energy crisis of the country, effective and cheap ways of power generation are the need of the
hour. Natural energy sources around us are wind, flowing water and sunlight. Solar cells convert sunlight to
DC power with the maximum efficiency
of 40%. Secondly, solar cells are expensive. The idea is that the
solar energy can be converted to DC power using antenna technology with the improved efficiency and
relatively less expensive level. Since the wavelength of solar radiations is very small, a
ntenna dimensions
will be at nanometer scale. Then the DC conversion requires special purpose diodes called MoM (Metal
oxide Metal) and a nano
-
scale low pass filter.


SCOPE OF WORK:



In this project students will design an ultra wide band square spiral an
tenna array for IR band. Then a low
pass filter at nano scale will be designed with MoM diode fabricated on the same sheet as that of antenna
array.
