The label to be manufactured from double layered trefolite. The label ends to be machine beveled. The lettering to be mechani

to be mounted in suitably
sized aluminium rail below the circuit breakers or below the point of outlet. The aluminium r
ail to be mounted with 3mm brass cheese head
machine screws equally spaced on both ends in distribution boards and with 8mm round head screws and fisher plugs equally spa
ced on both
ends or in an alternative but approved manner at points of outlet. The leg
end card should display all the circuit breaker numbers and the purpose
of the circuits. The legend card should be in a printed format with Arial font, sized to suit the card holder. The legend car
d holder should be of a
metal type with a transparent cover
. The holder should be mounted adjacent to the distribution board with 6mm round head brass screws and
fisher plugs, two at the bottom and one on top, should the distribution board not have a legend card mounting facility. The s

Documentation:

The distribution system should be drawn in a single line diagram format with a cad package on an A4 page, indicating the foll

current rating feeding the specific sub board. The cable sizes and lengths. The distribution board legend card
s should be attached to the layout
diagram. The documents should be provided in triplicate in a document binder format.

TELEMETRY SUPPLY POINT:

All units will be supplied via a 32Amp, 2 pole, pad lockable isolator that is surface
mounted, enclosed to IP65 and mounted next to the telemetry
panel (RTU). The isolator shall be supplied from a 20 Amp, circuit breaker with 2.5mm, 2 core, black, surfix cable or with 2.
5mm house wire
sleeved in 20mm pvc conduit should the isolator be situa
ted in close proximity to the distribution board. Cable entries into isolators will be via steel
compression glands through the bottom or the rear of the isolator and panel. The surfix cable shall be sleeved into PVC condu
it. The contractor
shall also repl
ace the equipment’s supply cable as per above. Please note that this equipment may not be left un powered for more that 1 hou
r.

washers, drilled and tapped on a steel structure.

PHOTOCELLS:

Photocells will be enclosed, a
nd surface mounted. Photocells will be able to be replaced without disconnecting any wiring. Photocells will be
mounted in such a way that they are only affected by sunlight. Fitting of light reflecting covers for photocells will not be
permitted. Photocel
ls will be
surface mounted with 4 x 6mm fisher plugs and suitably sized brass counter sunk screws. Photocells will be Spectrum QS15 or s
imilar to be
approved.

LIGHT SWITCHES:

Switches will be 16Amp, Crabtree. Push button type switches will be fitted for d
immable lights. All switches will be fitted with PVC cover plates and
4mm
steel counter sunk screws
. Switches will be flush mounted unless other wise specified. Surface mounted switches will be fitted with 2 x 4 or 4
x 4 PVC surface boxes. Flush mounted sw
itches will be supplied via 25mm conduit. Conduits to surface and flush boxes will be fitted with male
adaptors and lock nuts. Outdoor light switches will be 16Amp, 2 pole, pad lockable isolators that is surface mounted, enclose
d to IP65.

PLUG SOCKET OUTL
ETS:

Socket outlets will be 16Amp double, Crabtree. Socket outlets in sub stations will be 13Amp

or 16Amp

single, Crabtree. All socket outlets will be
fitted with PVC cover plates and 4mm steel counter sunk screws. Socket outlets will be flush mounted unle
ss other wise specified. Surface
mounted socket outlets will be fitted with 4 x 4 PVC surface boxes. Conduits to surface and flush boxes will be fitted with m
ale adaptors and lock
nuts. All plug socket outlets in power skirting or connected via conduit wi
ll be wired with 2.5mm house wire.

DISTRIBUTION BOARDS:

Distribution boards shall be manufactured with “CNC” type bending and cutting equipment. Distribution boards shall be
of a
modular

construction.
Distribution boards shall be type tested, labelled and

certified as per SANS 10142
. A minimum of 1.6mm sheet metal will be used for the
construction.

Distribution boards shall be powder coated, electrical panel orange
.
The colour will be confirmed on order.
Dedicated or standby
power distribution board shall
be red in colour. The distribution board shall cater for specified circuit breakers and 30% free space for future
expansion. The main switch will be in a separate compartment with a separate door and cover on the left hand side of the dist
ribution board.
C
ircuit breaker covers will be of similar construction as the distribution board, to be hook and screw down type. Circuit brea
kers shall be fitted onto
cradles and be of the Samite or DIN type as approved Mounting rails. Doors will be hinged with Perano pad

lockable handle. The distribution board
shall be fitted with engraved numbering below the circuit breakers. The spacing will align with the circuit breakers installe
d black on white, bevelled
edges, mounted with 3mm round head brass screws. The board will

also be fitted with an engraved name on the top centre on the outside of the
distribution board frame. Labels shall have bevelled edges, black on white, mounted with 3mm round head brass screws tapped i
nto board. A
metal welded legend card holder on shall

be fitted on the inside of the door with a printed legend card indicating the circuit information linked to the
circuit breaker number. 2 x square mounting brackets on top and bottom of the board shall be provided. Board to be mounted wi
th suitably sized
couch bolts, washers and suitably sized fisher plugs on brick or concrete walls. Circuit breakers will be CBI, Samite, 6kA, 1
3mm frame sizes or as
approved. CBI, black, clip into samite rail, blank units will be provided in each open circuit breaker space.

The use of door clip units will not be
allowed. The main switch will feed suitably sized copper bus bars, mounted on insulators above the main switch. Only screw do
wn type terminals
will be allowed on all bus bars. No lug type terminals will be allowed. S
uitably rated copper circuit breaker mounted bus bars should be used and
bridge pieces made of wire should be limited as far as possible. Wiring should be colour coded, suitable rated and only house

wire should be used.
No taping or heat shrink colouring
will be allowed.

PANELS:

Panels will be wired with 1mm copper, panel wire or as required to suitably cater for current carrying capacity and fault lev
els. All panel wire shall
be suitably protected against over load and fault levels. All panel wire shall
be sleeved into grey slotted trunking. All panel wire looms shall be
sleeved in black wire sock, wire socks shall be clamped close at ends with black cable ties. All wire ends to be terminated v
ia suitably sized
bootlace ferrules. All wire ends to be marke
d with suitably sized wire numbers that should also be colour coded. Joints may only be done via din
terminals. All terminals shall be 4mm. All terminals shall be fitted with end caps and end stops. All wiring to be as per the

equipment
manufacturer’s reco
mmendations. All wiring to be documented with a CAD type program. CAD drawings to be provided for approval before
manufacturing. As built CAD drawings to be supplied on completion. All bus bars shall be suitably sized and rated according t
o the expected fa
ult
levels. All nuts and bolts shall be new and of the same shape and size. No bolts may be cut to alter lengths. All bolts, nuts

and washers shall be
electro galvanised. All connections shall be tightened to the required torque as per the manufacturer’s s
pecifications. All auxiliary equipment
required to finish off panels, doors, cuttings etc. shall be installed as per the manufacturer’s specifications. All sheet me
tal work shall be pre
-
manufactured and powder coated. All equipment shall be pre
-
tested and
witnessed by the project manager prior to installation.

BATTERY CHARGER SUPPLY POINT:

All units will be supplied via a 32Amp, 2 pole, pad lockable isolator that is surface mounted, enclosed to IP65 and mounted n
ext to the battery
charger panel. Th
e isolator shall be supplied from a 20 Amp, circuit breaker with 2.5mm, 2 core, black, surfix cable or with 2.5mm house wire
sleeved in 20mm pvc conduit should the isolator be situated in close proximity to the distribution board. Cable entries into
isolat
ors will be via steel
compression glands through the bottom or the rear of the isolator and side of the charger panel. The surfix cable shall be sl
eeved into PVC
conduit. The contractor shall also replace the equipment’s supply cable as per above. Please n
ote that this equipment may not be left un powered
for more that 1 hour.

black, surfix cable or with 2.5mm house wire sleeved in 20mm pvc conduit should the isolator be situated in close proximity t
o the distribution
board. Cable entry into the enclosure will be via steel compression glands through the bottom of the enclosure.

The surfix cable shall be sleeved
into PVC conduit. The alarm system power supply will be mounted next to the plug socket outlet in the York enclosure. The pow
er supply will be
plugged into the one outlet and the low voltage DC supply will be extended to
the alarm system control unit. Please note that this equipment may
not be left un powered for more that 1 hour.
