Investigating the neural correlates of stimuli repetition and how it is
related to behavior in a group of cognitively healthy adults.

Memory impairment is one of the earliest domains of cognitive impairment in
Alzheimer’s disease (AD), although mnemonic techniques, such as repetition may
enhance performance in older individuals. In this study we investigate the neural
correlates of repet
itive encoding and how these are related to individual behavioral
measurement (i.e. reaction time and accuracy).
To study this we will perform an
event
-
related fMRI experiment (e
-
prime) during a repetitive associative face
-
name
encoding and retrieval task.

Individual behavioral measures including response
time (during repetitive encoding) and accuracy (during retrieval) will be recorded
for each stimuli. Statistical parametric mapping (SPM) will be used to pre process
and statistical analyses on the functio
nal data. The aim of this thesis will be to
investigate whether repetition effects on behavioral measurements can predict
neuronal responses (i.e. repetition suppression) in the neural network supporting
episodic memory.
