How to log onto TM1



INDEX



1.

Goto your desktop and closed down your excel.


2.

Goto the “Start” button ( bottom left hand corner of screen )


3.

Click on “Microsoft Excel” if Microsoft Excel does not appear in the block below, see point 3.1

Goto “All Progr
ams” Click on “Microsoft Office” click on “Microsoft Office Excel”

When Excel opens look for TM1 on the top tool bar, If you can see TM1 goto point 9, else follow to point 5.

Goto “Office Button” in the top left hand corner, Goto “Excel Options”

Goto “A
dd
-
in” and then Goto “Manage;” ensure “Excel add
-
ins” is displayed, if not go to 6.1

Goto “Manage” drop box and select “Excel add
-
ins”

6.2

Once “Excel add
-
ins” appears in the “Manage” box click on “GO”


7.

Tick in the box “IBM Cognos TM1 Perspectives” click “OK”:

If the “IBM Cognos TM1 Perspectives” tick box
is not present in this view then goto 7.1

7.1

Tick in the box “IBM Cognos TM1 Perspectives” is not present click “Browse”

7.2

Goto “Local Disk (C:)/Program Files/Cognos/TM1/bin”

7.3

In the “bin” folder you will see a file

“tm1p.xla” Click on it and press “OK”

7.4

“IBM Cognos TM1 Perspectives” should now appear

Tick in the box “IBM Cognos TM1 Perspectives” click “OK

You will notice on the top toolbar “TM1” which has now been added in

Please check to see if your excel security

settings have been changed to “LOW”: Goto “Office Button” in
the top left hand corner, Goto “Excel Options”

Goto “Trust Center” and click on “Trust Centre Settings”

G
oto “Macro Settings” and ensure the following settings have been made and click “OK”

Now

ensure that your workbook calculations have been set to Manual: Goto “Formulas”

Ensure that the “Manual” tick box is ticked. Click on “OK”

Click the “TM1” on the toolbar.

Goto “Explorer”

The following screen will open, Click on the “+” sign next to TM1
. If you do not see a “+” sigh next to
TM1 please see “Additional Help” below.

The “sap” server should now be displayed. Double click on “sap”

The “Server Login” box will be displayed

15.1

Please type in your “UserName” and “Password” and click “OK”

15.2

If you ge
t an error “Client name does not exist on the server” please see “Additional Help”
below.

15.3

If you get an error “Client’s password is invalid” please try again carefully, it is “K” sensitive.

15.4

On the third attempt the system will lock you out, please contact
your TM1 administrator when
this happens.

The system will take a few moments and then you should see….. if your Login is successful.

: If you do not see the “+” sign next to TM1, it is possible that the following two
errors have occurred.





1.

The server setting for TM1 on your PC has changed.

o

Goto “File”, “Options”





o

Ensure that “TM1” appears in the “Admin Host” b
lock, If TM1 is not visible in
this block then type in “TM1” and click “OK”





If you still cannot see the “+” sign then ……….


2.

The Network is currently down to the server:

o

Please check your network cable. Reconnect if required.

o

Please contact your IT S
upport for confirmation that the network is down to the
TM1 server at Telkom.


If all of the points above have been considered and do not apply contact your TM1
administrator, on 011 513 7602

5.2

: Error message “Client name does not exist on th
e server”


This message has occurred because of the following two reasons.


1.

You have incorrectly typed in your “UserName” onto the server login

o

Your “UserName” in most cases is your name on your e
-
mail address

Eg: “GregoryM @ southernsun.com” this users “
UserName” will be “GregoryM”

2.

You have not been loaded as a user onto TM1.

o

Please complete the “TM1 Legal Permissions


Hotels” form, found in public
folders.

Please note that it will take time for access to be given.
