Java 101

Course Description
This computer based course explains and teaches candidates how to program in Java and
JavaScript using Visual Studio with practical examples and exercises. It is applicable to
developers and testers who are required to learn a new programming language for software
development purposes.

3 days (08H00 – 16H30)

Intended audience:

Individuals involved in software development, developers, testers and
managers.
Prerequisites:

Completion of “Software Development Fundamentals” course or the
candidate must have prior development experience in object orientated
programming or holds a computer science degree or diploma.
Training style:

Computer based training; classroom style with theoretical and practical
discussions and homework; presented by certified and experienced
development expert; course notes with computer practical exercises for
submission and assessment.

Assessment and
Grading:

Candidates will be assessed on their submitted exercises. The required
pass mark is 65%. Candidates who obtain 80% or higher is awarded
with Honours and 90% or higher is awarded with Distinction. Marked
papers will be emailed to individual candidates for future career
development and improvement.
Certification:

Successful candidates will be awarded the iThink Technology Solution’s
“Java 101” certificate with their marks and grades displayed.

Course Syllabus
This course teaches the candidates how to program in Java and JavaScript using NetBeans with
practical examples and exercises. It covers the following contents:

 Introduction to NetBeans and Java
 Input and output statements
 Variables and data types
 Selection statements
 Looping statements
 Classes and objects
