Description

MON Ring Service provides high volume optical transport using multiplexing
technology in a dedicated ring configuration. This service al
lows end users to
combine their multiple data signals so that they can be amplified and transported
over one network.

Service Configuration

Service is available in different ring configurations utilizing central office nodes and
customer premise nodes w
ith a maximum of 8 sites and/or 40 shelves.

A shelf consists of up to 4 protected or up to8 unprotected wavelengths.

Minimum configuration is two nodes either at a serving wire center or an end
user premise.

A central office management site may be requi
red for monitoring if a node is
not in a serving wire center.

End user can purchase MON Ring growth capacity up to 16 or 32 wavelengths.

Availability

MON Ring is available
within the Local Access and Transport Area (LATA) served by
SBC
in Arkansas, Kans
as, Missouri and Oklahoma

and service is provided where
facilities permit.

Restriction/Limitations

Channel protection may not be available for all interface types.

Protection reduces the maximum individual channel capacity of the system.

Engineering consi
derations may dictate the need for more than one optical
amplifier on a circuit route which may be service affecting.

Conversion from MON Service to MON Ring is not available.

Conversions from any other lower speed services to MON Ring is not available.

CP
E must deliver the data signals for the MON Ring Service transport within the
industry specification for the subscribed data se
r
vices.

Neither electrical interfaces nor optical add/drop multiplexing is available.

MON Ring provides physical layer transport
only.

SBC assumes no responsibility for the signals generated by the end user, for the
qualify of or defects in such signals, for the reception of signals by the end user
or address signaling to the extent addressing is performed by the end user.

Error d
etection and correction of data generated by the end user is the end
user’s responsibility.

MON Ring may have distance limitations based on the services carried and may
require routing through wire centers based on loss limits between nodes.
Services with

length limitations may not be available on some MON Rings or not
available between some nodes on certain MON Rings.

Floor space for subsequent shelf growth at a Central office node beyond the
initial installation will be provided where available but canno
t be guaranteed.

Services with time
-
delay sensitive protocols have facility length limitations and
may affect the design/availability of MON Ring service.

SONET port interfaces are available at both the Customer Premises Node and
the Central Office Node.
All other port interfaces are available only at the
Customer Premise Node.

Term Payment Plan

MON Ring Service is available under a Term Payment Plan with a 36 or 60
-
month agreement.

Service discontinued prior to term expiration will result in termination charges.

Termin
ation charges do apply for rearrangements and moves.

Customer Specific Pricing

CSP is available to end users in Oklahoma that subscribe to a 3 year or greater
service contract.

All MON Ring services covered by the contract must be in service within th
ree
months of order date.

Termination charges will not be incurred if end user elects to transfer their
existing MON Ring service to a CSP contract upon ordering a new MON Ring
service for a term equal to or greater than 3 years.

During the CSP contract, a
dditional service elements may be added to the
contract.
