RNIB Benefits Service Case Study



Client is referred to Benefits Service by one of our
Community Vision Co
-
ordinators


Entitlement check indicates eligibility for additional
benefits, which we help her apply for


Result: increase in income; also full Housing Benefit
award and so no more rates to pay


As the client was awarded Pension Credit we applied for
a Community Care Grant and again she was successful


She was able to purchase her first new bed in 37 years
and also a new washing machine

Sensory Engagement Project (SEP)


SEP is a new cross
-
border project with two strands:

1. Active Citizens

providing IT and confidence
building training to people with sight and hearing
loss

2. Models of Excellence
-

working with libraries,
colleges and banks to ensure their services are
accessible to people with sight and/or hearing loss


Funded through the EU’s INTERREG IVA
Programme, managed by the SEUPB
