Join an experienced, professional and stable team of Social Workers focussed on
increasing the number of foster carers for Derby City Council. The team provide high
quality assessment and pre
-
approval training, supervision and supp
ort to foster
carers.

We operate a specialist fee paid scheme and offer mainstream foster placements
alongside a short break scheme for children with disabilities.

Team members carry a caseload of either assessment cases or support cases, and
there is the
opportunity to contribute to pre or post approval training. Personal
development needs can be accommodated and we encourage flexibility within the
teams to offer a breadth of experience.

There is a strong post
-
approval training programme, with a dedicated
training officer
for fostering and adoption. Carers are encouraged to develop their skills and you will
support them to complete their Training, Support and Development standards and
identify their on
-
going training needs through Personal Development Plans
.

Applicants should have at least two years' post qualifying experience in statutory
child care and, ideally, experience of fostering work and an understanding of the
needs of children in care.

The Adoption Team is a stable and motivated group of experienced social workers
who's main aim is to place children in safe and caring adoptive families who can
meet the children's needs. They are aiming to in

adoptive families.

We are looking for a full

time permanent adoption social worker to join the team.
Your main role would be to assess prospective adopters in a timely manner. You
would also be involved in training, finding a

child for approved adopters and
supporting them through to the adoption order stage. You would also have a part in
recruiting prospective adopters along with the team.

You would need to:

• Be a qualified social worker

• Have at least 3 years experience o
f working with children and families or have
recently completed an assessment of prospective adopters

• Have sound knowledge of adoption legislation and safeguarding, care

• Be registered HCPC/ subject to a DBS check

together every morning (returning to their class in the afternoons). The contracted
hours can be negotiated, but must include every morning and a minimum of

afternoon per week (which would be a joint planning afternoon with the SENCO). If
the successful candidate wishes to work more than 1 afternoon a week, the role
would then include one to one MEP work.
