1.

The purpose of this
evaluation is to
measure a student’s ability in using the correct form
when shooting a soccer ball towards a net or target
.

2.

Th
is scale will be used primarily for a high school physical education class, with both
male and female
students ranging from 9
th

to 12
th

grade. The skill level of the students
will range from students with little or no soccer experience to varsity soccer players.
This scale can be used during a soccer unit, so the students will be exposed to this activity

each class during the duration of this unit.

3.

This
rating scale can be used as both a pretest and posttest. The teacher can use this scale
in the beginning of a soccer unit to see how each student performs. After going through
the unit and teaching the
class the proper way to kick a soccer ball, the teacher can then
use this same scale as a posttest. The teacher can then see if any improvements were
made by the students.

4.

The students will be evaluated on their
ability to properly swing their leg while

kicking,
use of their plant leg, properly swinging their arms, kicking with the correct part of their
foot, and making eye contact with their target. These skills are the most important to use
when kicking a soccer ball. Using these skills while kicking

the ball will give students
the best chance at putting the ball on target.

5.

The rating scale

will be as follows
:

5
-

Excellent
; students displays the skill properly

4
-

Good
; student
displays the skill, but it isn’t quite perfect

3
-

Average
; the skill is
present, but needs improvement

2
-

Below Average
; the student makes an attempt at the skill, but has difficulty with it

1
-

Poor
; the students makes little attempt at the skill

0
-

Not Present
; the student makes no attempt at the skill

6.

The test a
dministrator
would have to at least one soccer ball available as well as a soccer
net. This test would be best performed on a soccer field. The administrator should also
determine the distance from which the student is kicking; the penalty shot marker is
probably bes
t. It would be best to have the student take three (3) shots, this way the
administrator can focus on each aspect of the kick, and so the student can have the
greatest opportunity for success.

7.

This rating scale is not used to grade students; it will prov
ide students with an
understanding of their skill level in kicking a soccer ball. This is a formative evaluation
because it is a pretest and posttest. It can be used by the students and teacher to evaluate
improvement in this specific skill.
