(approved and published)

Use of web technology to make information searchable easily, create and maintain

1.3.

Define Authoring framework, ST divisional templates and Approval
process

The ST Divisional pages should constitute a unique site (currently
http://st
-
div.web.cern.ch/st
-
div/
) located in the IT central Web servers.

There are some groups web pages located elsewhere but they will be re
-
grouped and located
in the ST site during the bi
-
annual ST Web pages “upda
te”.

The recommended Web Authoring tool is FrontPage.

1.3.1.

ST Divisional Web Templates

The ST Web working group taking into account the needs of the division and groups shall
define the ST divisional templates, which then shall be approved by the ST Management.

Since the ST Web site was created (1996) only one general template has been used. The basic
principles covered in this template and its mandatory elements are the following:

-

header

: clear indication of the identity of the page, it should show where you

are

-

CERN banner and navigation to CERN home page

-

Page title: ST division/organization unit or project, service or other general domain of
activity

-

Navigation possible to ST home page

-

Navigation possible to group home page or other if appropriate

-

Footer

:

-

Author, creation date, last update

-

Contact mail address for comments

-

Navigation to ST or other appropriate ST page

1.3.2.

Approval process for ST divisional web pages

New pages have to be approved first by the Divisional Webmaster and finally by the ST
manag
ement before being published.

Group pages are first reviewed by Group web master and approved by the
corresponding ST group leader.

1.3.3.

Publishing guidelines

There are not publishing guidelines apart from the CERN Web publishing guidelines. These
guidelines
were issued in 1999 by the CERN Divisional

Webmasters working group and
should certainly be reviewed. The CERN Divisional
