The FORSCOM ARMS Guide is neither a regulation nor regulatory in nature. The Guide questions are based on requirements state

s and various other written directives. The Guide is simply a tool that can be used to address those requirements. The
applicability codes were developed to facilitate and enhance the use of the ARMS Guide. Applicability codes are intended to
assist the

user in determining which questions apply to typical Army organizations. As with all attempts to establish absolute rules, t

7.13.1. Intermediate Lev
el Maintenance


Personnel who have graduated from the TRADOC ANVIS ASC maintenance course are authorized to perform Intermediate Level
Maintenance on ANVIS (e.g. 94R or 948B). Commanders may also assign applicable level maintenance responsibilities to oth
er personnel after proper training. ANVIS
Intermediate Level Maintenance qualification training will be IAW the following.

7.13.1.1. Other personnel conducting Intermediate Level Maintenance on ANVIS must have been trained by a TRADOC ANVIS Interme
diate M
aintenance Course graduate, a
designated trainer from the ASC, PM Soldier Sensors and Lasers, an ANVIS ASC qualified CECOM LCMC AVIONICS LAR, or a properly

7.13.4.1. Effective beginning at each maintainer
s next scheduled Sustainment Training, all units will conduct Sustainment Training on an ANNUAL BASIS which will consist of

on training of all tasks the maintainer is authorized to perform.

7.13.4.2. For MOS trained maintainers, training will be doc
umented IAW the applicable FM. For non
-
MOS trained maintainers, the trainer will document the completion of the
training on a Memorandum to the Unit Commander identifying the tasks that were trained. The Commander will initial the "MEMOR
ANDUM FOR" line to
acknowledge receipt. A
copy of the acknowledged memorandum will be kept on file by the maintainer with all other individual training documentation a
nd orders.

7.13.4.3. It is recommended that, whenever possible, the Commander send the most experienced ANV
IS trainer to the next higher or comparable maintenance level for
sustainment training.

EVAL METH

Review training documentation to determine compliance. To receive a SAT, the unit must:

a. Provide documentation that maintainers have been trained IAW GEN 1

3. Revisions

A revision is the issuance of a new edition of a publication. The revision supersedes the previous edition, making it obsolet
e. In both paper and electronic form, the new edition
replaces the previous ed
ition. Revisions may affect broad content of a publication.

A. Electronic publications.

(1) When functional revisions are published, they will reside only on an official Web site (see AR 25

30, Para 5

4). Army departmental publications users must download

and
store current editions from an official Army Web site. Although posting of electronic publications is not required, users mu
st ensure that they delete the previous edition (this
includes priority issuance of new and revised administrative publication
s).

(2) When an administrative revision is published, the changes cited therein may affect the entire publication. These changes
can be, but are not limited to: correcting typographical
errors; updating office symbols; changing organizational names and add
resses; or changing references or URLs. Procedures in a(1), above, apply to administrative revisions.

B. Paper publications.

When a paper revision is distributed, it will replace the existing (or previous) edition of that publication. Publication use

chapter. Dispose of the previous edition according to disposition instructions (destroy classified publications according to

8. General rules for posting

A
. Be accurate and neat in your posting. A publication that is incorrectly or illegibly posted is as worthless as one that has

not been posted.

B. Use only a sharp black lead pencil. Posting can then be erased easily if future changes or corrections are nec
essary.

C. Print or write the authority for changing the current edition of a publication in the outside margin of the page (away fro
m the binding edge) by the changed portion. This authority
usually is a numbered change, for example, C1, but it may be ano
ther publication or message. If the changed portion extends to more than one page, make the same notation on
all pages concerned.

D. When fewer than three lines of text are affected, draw a single line through changed or deleted material instead of blocki
n
g it out.

E. When three or more lines of text are affected, line out old material in the following manner: draw single, straight lines
through the first and last lines of the text and connect these
lines from top right to bottom left, forming a Z shaped fi
gure (see fig E

1).

F. Upon receipt of a new change, post any previously unposted changes.

9. Change notations

a. As each change to a publication is received, post the change number and date on the front cover of the basic publication,
or first page if t
here is no cover. If a change
supersedes a previous change, draw a line through the superseded change number and date and show the supersession authority.

B. This type of posting provides a checklist of all changes to a publication that have been received
and their current status.

10. Bound changes

Changes to a bound publication are printed in page and paragraph sequence keyed to the basic publication. These changes may c
onsist of supersession’s, rescissions, additions,
and minor amendments.

A. Supersessi

(1) Identification. When an entire chapter, section, paragraph, subparagraph, appendix, or other portion is superseded, this
is stated in the change. For example: “Page 6.
Paragraph 1

7 is superseded as follows:” (The new text of the superseded portion

then follows.) (See fig E

(2) Posting. Using the line through, or Z method (Para E

8e), mark out the superseded material in the basic publication. Write “Supsd” and the authority (for example, “C2”) in the

b. Rescission.

(1) Identification. When material is rescinded, the word rescinded appears in the instructions of the new change. For example

4 SITE AND SHELTER REQUIREMENTS

The checks and service functions, as prescribed herein
, should be accomplished in the electronic repair service area. A standard electronic workbench provides an adequate
working area for ANVIS maintenance

requirements. The surface area should be free of chemicals, vapors, and emissions that may damage extern
al parts of the ANVIS. Normal
sheltering from the elements (cold, rain, dust, etc.) is necessary. An air
-
conditioned environment is recommended. There must be provisions to perform certain service functions
and specified tests in a dark room or dark area i
n which all places where light can enter (e.g., windows,

doors, wall and ceiling joints) have been blocked. This blocking can be
accomplished using either permanent or temporary shields such as tape or heavy curtains. The room or area must appear dark (w
it
hout the

evidence of light entering the area) to
your unaided eye after approximately 10 minutes of dark adaptation. Use a night vision device to identify and isolate the pla
ce where light enters.

EVAL METH

Survey NVG maintenance area for compliance of the
