ABSTRACT


An Incufridge is the combination of both and Incubator and a Refrigerator in one apparatus.

This

appliance of 36cm*19.7cm*3.3cm in size and 25 litres capacity is an ultimate solution for the

fulfillment of laboratory needs. It can be conveniently used in the field of research, production

and various testing; when the micro organisms are the preliminary requirement. This product is

cheaper comparatively reliable and convenient.

Introduction:

Background

Incufridge is an electronic appliance which is flexible in use as a fridge and as an incubator too.

This is convenient equipment that has the capability of storing and providing enough space for

proper growth and prevention of any kind of contamination.

The appliance holds a temperature from 5
°C to 65°C. It is great for all the incubation needs and

can be used within 12 volts adapter.

Purpose

Main purpose of this appliance is to fulfill the laboratory need so as to provide optimal

environment for the micro organism to grow properly. And prevent any kind of contamination.

Also, to store the grown microbial cultures for the longest duration and

at sterile conditions.


In the field of biotechnology, food microbiology, medical microbiology, industrial microbiology

or pharmaceuticals, and wherever the Micro

organisms are used as the basic reproducer of any

metabolite or for the tests and effects

of pathogens in the field of either medical microbiology or

the pharmaceutical. The instruments are highly required which are incubator which is required to

provide proper environment for the growth of the microbes and the other is refrigerator which is


required to keep the microbes stored for duration till that microbe is to be used for the purpose

of research or production of any medicine etc. Thus, Incufridge i.e. the combination of both the

instruments is the ultimate solution which is convenient
and fulfills the needs.

Scope

Our product is the cheapest as compared to both the products i.e. incubator and the fridge if used

individually. Also it is convenient and flexible in terms of use. It protects electrical energy and

also prevents any kind of

mechanical errors that can be caused which are highly intolerable.

Especially when a specific microbe has to be dealt with, the incufridge is the only option which

is helpful in maintaining cultures for required dura
tion and with maintenance of as

After completion of the project, the product was checked for its working.


Operating Instructions:


PLACEMENT:


Place unit on a stable, hard surface away from the edge of the counter and other moving


equipment.




Loading
:


Open the Incufridge by gently pulling outward (away from the unit) on the door handle. With the


door open and shelves properly inserted, lo
ad your samples making sure to leave adequate space


between samples for proper air circulation. Avoid placing samples directly on floor of chamber,


instead use shelf to insure even distribution of temperature.


Connecting the power
:

240V use: Insert power supply's barrel plug into backside of unit. Insert other end of power


supply cord into an outlet designed for 100
-
240v use. Make sure the power supply cord is clear

of hot surfaces and other hazards. Any slack in the cord sho
uld be wrapped up and held together

with a twisty tie.

o operate
:


After power is connected, flip power switch on backside of unit to On position. Default display is


actual chamber temperature. To increase chamber temperature, press and hold the arrow button


pointed up for 2+ seconds. To decrease chamber temperature, press and hold the arrow button


pointed down for 2+ seconds. To display current set temperature, pr
ess either button.



Care and Maintenance:


Your Incufridge should be cleaned periodically to

ensure optimal performance,

cleanliness,

and to eliminate contamination. Using a soft cloth soaked in water and bleach or mild detergent,

wipe the inside and outside of the unit. Then let air dry or wipe with a dry cloth. Be careful not to

scratch surfaces with abrasive cleaners or dirty cloths
.

The overall project was completed in a four months time approximately. A survey was

created on completion of the project. Different

questions regarding the product were

presented before the peers and the company found a positive response for the product.

However, the company also found some limitations and gained feedback from the

peers.

The survey showed that the product is acceptable and is actually designed to make the

work easier for the future. However, the product also got some negative responses with

respect to the size and the design. There might be various factors involved for t
hese

limitations.

Factors that lead to the negative responses:

1.
The product is designed to consider the space as an important factor. But the

peers recommended it to be larger in size as it is working as an incubator

and refrigerator in one apparatus.

Safety was another issue among the peers. The equipment was not considered

to provide the overall safety.


There might be different possible reasons for these limitations. One of the main reasons

might be the time constraint. However, the overall pro
ject was done to make the work

easier for the laboratories and educational purposes. More research is needed by

considering every aspect and taking into consideration the overall safety and

requirements for the future.

Conclusion:

The Incufridge is the ultimate in flexibility when refrigerating or incubating specimens and other

temperature sensitive materials. The incufridge accurately holds temperatures from 5
0
C to

65
0
C.

Great for all general incubation needs, or tra
nsport heated or refrigerated samples with

laboratory

convenience while working in the field.

Setup:


Set desired temperature on Incufridge and insert calibrated thermocouple or thermometer. Close


door and check accuracy of temperature 1 to 2 hours
later. If temperature is off by more than 5
0



C, record Incufridge display reading and thermometer reading and calibrate accordingly,


following these three simple steps.


1. Press up and down buttons simultaneously. Display should read “CAL.”


2. After
"CAL" times out a new number will display. This is the calibration off
-
set number. Press


up arrow if you desire to increase the temperature on the display reading or down arrow if you


wish to decrease the temperature.


3. Wait for three seconds for the

display to return to the temperature reading.


How to Operate:


(1) Area of placing the equipment:

hold the arrow button pointed down for 2+ seconds. To display


current set temperature, press either button.




Care and Maintenance:


Your Incufridge should be cleaned periodically to ensure cleanliness, and to eliminate


contamination. Clean your Incufridge only when it is not plugged in. Using a soft cloth soaked in


water and mild detergent, wipe the inside and outside of the unit. Then let air dry or wipe with a

Strong Features of Incufridge:

At a fraction of the price for comparable units, this extraordinary incubator will allow even the

most frugal laboratories to perform these important tests of milk quality and product shelf li
fe.

Recommendation:

The areas w
h
ere the electricity supply is shortage or problematic, the Incufridge will not work

properly.

The supply of power must be proper and in continuous fashion so that the result will be accurate.

The implementation of the future design is that in place of electricity power there must be a use

of solar heat or electric coil which will maintain the tem
perature.
