Future of Social Health

Thought Starters

Dec. 14
th

Teleconference

Based on the conversations during the WhiteBoard session at BlogWorld,
I pulled
together the following thoughts that we should cover during the call on December
14
th
.

This includes a
list of questions we really should ask ourselves as we determine how
b
est to move forward. Importantly, there are some other groups that are currently
looking to answer many of the same questions that came up during the WhiteBoard
session.

One of the key questions we should answer is how we should work with
these groups.

I’ve also put together a draft of what could be mission for the group and some ideas
around who should be brought in as members of this group.

I look forward to our c
onversation on Wednesday afternoon. In the meantime, if
you have any thoughts or additions to these thought starters, please add them via
the wiki.

Best,

What are the project goals? What deliverables should we be focused on?
(See

4)

What should the group call itself? Future of Social Health?

5)

Can we connect to/support work currently underway by the Digital Health
Coalition? Are there other organizations to reach out t
o? What will be the
nature of those relationships?

6)

Should there be face
-
to
-
f
ace meetings
? If so, when?

Based on the conversations during the WhiteBoard session, I pulled together the
following as a proposed mission for the group, and identified some

potential
stakeholders for the group.

Proposed
Mission

Recognizing the tremendous opportunity that social media and digital tools can play
in improving health outcomes, we will establish a vision for the future of digital
health information, defining
the appropriate roles and responsibilities that each key
stakeholder group will play in the creation, delivery and use of different health
information.

Potential
Stakeholders
:

Patients

Physicians

Nurses

Caregivers

Payers

Providers (Hospital Chains)

Manuf
acturers (Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Medical Diagnostics Companies)

Government Authorities (FDA, HHS, NIH)

Potential D
eliverable for the Group:

A position paper, providing a vision for the future of social health, along with an
outline of the roles that each stakeholder group will play in the creation and
delivery of health information.

The document will
provide a sense of the
responsibility th
at each stakeholder group will have in the creation and delivery of
health information,

as well as the boundaries around those roles
and will
serve as a
guide for future interactions.
