Part 1
.
Create a User and Assign User Rights


In this sect
ion, you will create a new user,
named wasadmin

and add him to the
Administrators group. Afterwards, you will add the user rights “Act as part of th

operating system” and “Log on as a service” to
the wasadmin user

Install the Application Server

Restart the computer and log in

If possible, disable any anti

blocking software that may interfere with
the installation.

Test
ing

the Application Server

There is a default application that is installed with the Application Server that can be used
to test

the Application Server
. This test is independent of the verification test.


1.

Start the Application Serve
r
by
selecting
Start
-
> Programs
-
> IBM WebSphere
-
>
Application Server v6.1
-
> Profiles
-
> AppSrv01
-
> Start the Server
.


2.

Wait some seconds, eventually the Start window will close.
Once the server is started
open a web browser and type the URL
http://loca
lhost:908

/snoop

into the address
bar. You should see the output below.




3.

Close the web browser used to test the Application Server.


4.

Stop the Application Server

by selecting
