Temporary library for Geelong being planned, whilst planning the new one, aiming for Mid
May 2014. Temp library will have 10,000 popular

items with rest retrievable from warehouse.
Not changing the number of tech, but will try an Apple Store setup.

Have launched Freegal and Overdrive, including Chinese romances, but these are not being
borrowed yet. Laser screens are now wor
king with jpgs promoting library events and services.
Enterprise live and will be installed on OPACs soon. Internet speed issues hope to be
resolved soon.

Smart phones and tablets are everywhere and the age of truly ubiquitous access to the internet and wearable technology is alm
ost upon us.

How do public libraries respond to the opportunities presented by these new te
chnologies?


To answer this question, you need to participate with other public library staff in the PLVN ICT Group’s Mobile Devices Event
.


This will be a practical, collaborative and inspirational event, including:



Case studies of innovative mobile usage

in Libraries.



A panel of Victorian public library staff with mobile device experience.



A dynamic, ½ day un

conference in which we set the agenda and grapple with the questions posed by this exciting technology.
