Monument

Memory
.

A monument is only a reminder of the life it once
possessed.

Jesus
has been displaced by

the founder or
current head.

We do not give
the Holy Spirit
the due importance

The
Holy Spirit
brings Unity and
gives Vision

Eph 4: 3

making every effort to maintain the
unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace
.

There is a place for distinctiveness but no place
for pride and
division

We
can
affirm our distinctiveness but not
division

Whenever the church experiences division then
the work of the Holy Spirit is
hindered

Whenever we hinder the working of the Holy
Spirit we experience division

The
Holy Spirit
brings reconciliation

He first brings reconciliation between us and God.

He brings reconciliation between the members of
the Body of
Christ

In any society or group there is bound to be friction
and tension between people.

But these problems and friction can be reconciled.

Because we have the spirit of reconciliation

But if we find this impossible then we do not have
the Spirit.

The
Holy
Spirit promotes
fellowship

The Holy Spirit manifests himself through the fellowship
of the
church

It was not a mere warm glow or a feeling

This fellowship reaches out in Love. It is concrete.

This fellowship resulted in taking care of the needs of
fellow believers.

Act 4:34

There was not a needy person among them,
for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold
them and brought the proceeds of what was sold

Act 4:35 and laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was
distributed to each as any had need.

The Holy Spirit brings fellowship
across natural barriers

This fellowship motivated by the Spirit is
outward
looking

The
disciples
decided that
according to their
ability, each would send relief to the believers
living in
Judea.
Acts 11: 28

This is a purposeful action a sign of
Fellowship

The Spirit enables true Worship

The early disciples had a tremendous depth in
worship

Even in prison Paul and Silas were praising
God.
Acts 16:25

praise was one of the special result of the
coming of the Holy Spirit upon
them

Acts
2:47

True worship can be done only in Spirit
.

Whenever there has been a revival it has
always produced Praise

The
Holy Spirit
initiates Mission

A church which is under the control of the Holy
Spirit is involved in missions.

The church can never be a cozy club for the
insiders if it is truly the
church

When we are under the control of the Holy
Spirit we can’t help but be involved in Missions

The church of Jesus Christ has to submit to the
movement of the Holy Spirit

The
Holy Spirit
produces Love in the
church

Love is the key to Evangelism and also to a
healthy church
life

Jn

15:12

"This is my commandment, that you
love one another as I have loved
you

Paul writing to the Galatians

In
Galatians 5:22

love is the fruit of the Spirit

Conclusion

The church was
a movement

and is
supposed to be a movement which
continues to be the counter culture
critiquing the culture it finds itself in
.

There is dynamism where ever the church
is alive and has the revival fire burning in
it.

This is because of the presence of the
Holy Spirit
.

Conclusion

Is your faith a movement or has your
faith life become mechanistic or has it
become a monument?

The symptoms of a monument is when
you think back and talk always about
your past experience of long ago.

When you think of just the good old days
