4. Configuration

Here’s few brief tips for basic configuration of the component , module and plugin after
installation:

- You need to publish plugin (this is required step , bec. front end module and publishing
EMSlideShow in articles do not work with unpublished plugin). You need to go to the
{joomla admin top menu}/Extensions/Plugin Manager there in the list of the installed
plugins you will see : Em Slideshow Plugin , publish it .
- Create some categories before upload images (in the case if you wish to split uploaded
images for categories) Biggest advantage of usage categories it’s ability to show
different images for different site section; You need to go to {joomla admin top
menu}/Components/EM Slide Show there you will see component main menu
(Uploads, Scan DIR, Categories … and etc , please see image below)

Click “Categories”, after that you’ll get to the categories management section, where you
can create new , edit or delete existing categories. When you click on the button “New”
you will see the form for creating new category, where you can specify some special
settings for this category (see image below):

Also In category settings you can specify custom settings for plugin, which will be used in
the case if you insert images from this category into your site content with EMSlideShow
Plugin (“Plugin options”);

- Next step it’s images uploading. Upload images into EMSlideShow galleries you can
do by 3 ways :

Regular upload (use base upload interface to upload images one by one); {joomla
admin top menu}/Components/EM Slide Show click “New” button (at component main
menu) Just feel the form, select image, category (if you need it) and push “Save”
button.

Batch Upload (upload set of the images at once);
{joomla admin section}/Components/EM Slide Show click “Uploads” button (at
component main menu)
Select images using “Browse” field, (when you select one, you will see next generated
“Browse” field, for the next image), select category (if you need any) and click on
“Save” button. After upload of the images you have to publish them, after that you will
be able to see them on the front end (at EMSlideShow front end module or in some
content articles using plugin)

Scan Directory function (import images into gallery from server directory);
{joomla admin section}/Components/EM Slide Show click “Scan Folder” button (at
component main menu)
When you open this section you need to select server directory first (set path to
directory where you have uploaded images), then click “Scan” button, after that you will
see images list. Use check boxes to select images you wish to insert into gallery and
click “Save” button.

- Final step of the fast EMSlideShow configuration it’s publishing uploaded content on the
front end of the page. It’s possible to do by 2 ways: publish front end EMSlideShow
module or use EMSlideShow plugin;

In the case of module usage:

Go to the EMSlideShow module settings (at {joomla admin section}/Extensions/Module
Manager/EMSlideShow ) there you can change all basic settings and select category of
the images which module will show on the front end (using option “Category ID”), in the
case if you do not select any category , module will show images form the general images
listing (uploaded in component gallery). Module should be set to required position (ex.
user1, user2, user3 … banner, left … etc. or some other position which you have
implemented in your template). Then publish module using standard joomla
publish/unpublished option.

In the case of plugin usage:

If you need to insert EMSlideShow in your content article, use this tag:
{em_slideshow CATEGORYID} - where CATEGORYID it’s ID of the images category
from which one plugin will load set of images; In the case if you wish to show images
form the general images listing, you can use this tag without ID of the category:
{em_slideshow}
For example : If your images category id it’s “1” , then tag will looks like:
{em_slideshow 1}

General settings for slideshow plugin reading from the “Category / plugin settings” section.
If you wish to set some custom images size or make configuration of some interface
elements of the EMSlideShow use this options.

After all these steps you can check your font end and you will see EMSlideShow there.

I was wondering if all of your joomla components/modules/plugins are Joomla
Native 1.5?

Yep, our components/modules/plugins implemented in Joomla 1.5 Native style. We're do
not adapting old application, we have implement it using new joomla 1.5
classes/structures/style

I get "JHTML form not supported. File not found. " at the top of each admin page.

You've got this error , because you using not stable version of Joomla 1.5 (did you install
some Release Candidate, right ?) Please reinstall Joomla 1.5 Stable Release , and try to
install again.

How I can change font size in description?

You can change it in CSS styles at Joomla 1.5: {joomla
root}/plugins/system/em_header_controlled/css/jd.gallery.css: Joomla 1.0.X: {joomla
root}/plugins/system/em_header_controlled/css/jd.gallery.css: .jdGallery .slideInfoZone
h2{ font-size: 80%; } .jdGallery .slideInfoZone p{ font-size: 60%; }

How I can change "All images" text on top slidebar label ?

You can change "All Images" label at module settings {admin section
}/Modules/EMSlideShow/ change option : "Label for top slidebar button" or in component
category settings (in the case if you using plugin);

I would like to have EMSlideShow in the main content article.

If you need to insert EMSlideShow into your content article, use this tag : {em_slideshow
CATEGORYID} - where CATEGORYID it’s ID of the images category from which one
plugin will load set of images as slideshow in this article; If you use tag {em_slideshow}
(without category id) you will see in slideshow images form general category.

When I try to upload images via the component, no pictures get uploaded.

Possible your images directory {joomla root}/components/com_em_header/images don't
have write permissions. Change permissions for images directory to 777
